To my humble understanding. The Freedom of Information Act is about getting information. to citizens because they are paying for it and have a right to know what the results are of their money.

So how would my chances fair if I used it to gather the records of public uniformed police personnel that is not private in nature? Names, Rank, photo, police ID, squad car...ya know, public stuff. Being a uniformed officer of the law you have no reasonable expectation of privacy. And if asked you are required to identify yourself.

How would one go about that? Because I haven't done it yet, but I can see some flak coming my way for asking a PD to cough up their roster of police. I'm not trying to assemble a hit list. But how do avoid my request being seen as such?

I only want the public information they are required to give, and information that is blatantly on display. I don't care about how old they are, or whether or not they like orange juice, I just want the public information.
