If you talk to anyone who works in supply chain management, it sure as hell does. If you are a farmer, it sure as hell does. If you are anyone who depends on imports, such as anyone in the US manufacturing anything from steel, it sure as hell does. You can't artificially raise prices without it having an impact. Trade creates wealth. It's econ 101. Artificially interfering with trade destroys that wealth. It's called deadweight loss.
Prices also go up due to trade wars. That's the whole point of tariffs: to artificially drive up prices. There's no such thing as a tariff that doesn't increase prices.
Well I'm sort of an old schooler, and in my day tensions between parties were far less then what we see today! But one thing either side disrespected was a non-voter that complained on either side.. In mixed company both parties would basically tell them "You don't vote, your opinion doesn't matter in this discussion" So with that still a little part of my psyche I must appease my my inner voice and banish you to Ignoria the realm of no voice
So you think that Pandemic is a country? No wonder Trump loyalists waved the white flag. They couldn't find anybody to nuke, I guess.
I didn’t realize one could only vote for certain candidates in order to have an opinion. Who knew...
Well I was referring to your post, but I see you spun off the topic you quoted from, YA, it's that hard to follow your jumping all over the place threads
My post is a country? Looks like you're going backwards. Unless your goal is to not make sense, in which case you are going forwards.
I don't wonder why you report me. I know exactly why. Because instead of contributing to the debates what you do is get the posts of those who do contribute removed. As for all those quotes, no idea how you think that corrects your blunder. But if it makes you happy...
NO it's because instead of answering a simple question to one of your post you insist on trolling, THAT'S WHY!!
That is true. My business sells products that are manufactured in China. There have been some minor price increases but nothing I would call serious. The Chinese manufacturers have reduced their cost to the American importers to compensate for the tariffs. They are smart business people. The money supply expansion, on the other hand, has been pretty serious.
IIRC, the tariffs are pretty steep. 30-35%. If Chinese companies are taking the hit, or most of it, I wouldn't call that being a smart businessperson. They would be operating at a loss, and though the CCP controls the Chinese economy, such a strategy would be ultimately unsustainable. Somebody posted inflation data for several items. 8% is far above a minor increase.
Obviously you have no idea of the profit margins involved. For sure and I already explained that inflation is affected by the money supply.
Which are? Back up your claim; don't criticize my knowledge. Not to the tune of 8%. The CPI does not show 8% inflation. I can safely say that without looking for proof.
The "claim" is not a claim. It is personal experience. Then you don't understand the difference between inflation and tariffs. You called it inflation. I didn't.
Since I think it's inevitable that ultimately the DemParty's politicians and the insane lurking among their elitists will eventually finish their task of turning this nation into a hell-hole, a Kamala presidency -- which is what it WOULD end up being some time in 2021 -- does not particularly bother me so far as the future of this nation is concerned. Trash it now or trash it later . . . the insane or stupid among the political Left's politicians and radicals WILL eventually trash it no matter what. So why did the wife and I vote for Trump, since at best he's only a temporary speed bump in the way of the Left? We voted for him because only a GOPer can kick start a damaged national economy back into high gear and the economy affects us 'older folks' here and now. Then it would also tickle us to see Trump put more and ever more conservative federal judges into the judicial branch. Meh . . . so it goes.
Economically speaking capitalism is always the reset point. Once the idiots break everything else including their own hold on power, which they inevitably will since none if their cute little theories actually work in practice, and everything falls apart we will be right to a fully capitalist economy.
Your claim that Chinese companies are eating the cost of tariffs, and that their profit margins exceed 35%. Those are claims, not your experiences. ??? Inflation is a rise in prices. Tariffs are a tax, which cause a rise in prices, which is called inflation, which is what we're discussing. Your little word game isn't working here.
Garyd, I think there is a major point here that many don't understand. While the conservatives and republicans are still pretty much of the same philosophies they have always been, the liberals and democrats have shifted dramatically to a tolerance for, even a preference for extremes and radicalism- most of which with philosophies not based in reality or that could produce or maintain a sustainable economy, law and order or protect freedom. Thus a vote for Trump is a vote for an individual with an outspoken manner who gets things done, and a stable system that already exists. In four years, Trump would be out of office permanently A vote for Biden is hardly a vote for Biden... it's a vote for the radical outrage, the discarding of moral values, endorsing something that is incapable of managing or sustaining any of the systems and values needed to keep the nation on track. Voting for that would greatly damage the stability of our government, our education, our economy and our position in the world for many decades- thus, bring harm to future generations as well as our own. Doing that would be a very stupid mistake, one that can't be reversed once put in motion. Biden is but a puppet figurehead for a far more sinister and dangerous movement, that is trying to take total control of the American people. If you vote Biden, you vote to surrender your independence and freedom. I would question the mental state of any person who would do that.
Yes, I know what war you were referring to but I was pointing out that not all wars are with guns and soldiers. In my life time I cannot think of a time in which we've had so many protests in our streets, in our State capital buildings, in our Federal Agencies, in our religious institutes......and I could go on. We used to be able to disagree among each other without it rising to the current level of animosity and hate. People are looting and rioting and running people over due to their political beliefs. It doesn't seem like America to me. Quite frankly it's depressing. You and I probably disagree on many issues but I still respect and value your input because it makes me look at things from a different perspective. When did it become okay and the norm to stop having civil discourse with each other. sigh....... Cheers my friend (I have an appointment to go to and will check back later).
