Might there have been fewer people in Australia 50 to 80 years ago...'non white'...now we are to believe that color kills....now I am going to be close to the racial line...if we could get all of the gun nuts...and all of those of color who wish to make their living 'with a gun' (excluding law enforcement) .......well, heck, let's include all of the scurrilous whites who want to make their living stealing from others....if we could get them all in one state (Texas?) and evacuate the non criminals ...and those that possess a modicum of sanity ....(non gun nuts) and then remove all laws to prevent violence....and wait patiently for the survivor ...our country would become much safer at little expense to the overall good.... 21 people shot in NYC over the weekend New Orleans police: 9 hurt in Bourbon St. shooting
"move on folks, just another racist rant.................." Yes, another racist rant from someone who believes in humanity as opposed to allowing idiocy to destroy it....another racist rant from someone who is propelled forward by the joy of a child playing as opposed to the feel of a destructive weapon....another racist rant by someone enjoying the olfactory reward of a field of wheat as opposed to the acrid odor of a recently fired instrument of death....Seeing that post and calling the man who wrote it a 'racist'....is a betrayal of intellect that is difficult to forgive...once again, I ask that you look inward...and recognize that you endanger everyone around you with your insane worship of singing pigs...whoops, ...I mean guns, firearms, gats, heaters, shooting irons....Nicholas Notaro bought his .38 Smith and Wesson at a JC Penney in Anchorage...used it the next night to put two bullets in the back of his wife, Vicki Lea...then a week later he lured Joseph Tarricone into the basement of a Puyallup rental house and put two more bullets in Tarricone's back...chainsawed the body and buried it in the front yard....Joseph Tarricone had seven children...they wondered what happened to their father for 30 years......yes, guns are good.....
" Wow, you like my way of pleading for someone to get help so much...that you copy it! I'm flattered.... For you to see rapists and murderers running rampant in your front yard...(or backyard) is merely an attempt to justify your love of guns...I am ancient and have been surrounded by people in business and family life for a hundred years or so...and have never had need of a weapon of any kind...maybe, just maybe....you should put your fear aside and confront life with a bit of raw courage.....it isn't as dangerous once through the gate of your fortress....as you think....make a fist and look sullen...the bad guys will run away....and yes, you can get from your Hummer through the front door of the convenience store...without being accosted by all those meanies....do some pushups...it'll be ok....
Let's see how many brainy people here can spot the trend dictating where you are the mostly likely to be killed by a firearm #1, Mississippi - Gun deaths per 100,000: 18.3 #2, Arizona - Gun deaths per 100,000: 15 #3, Alaska - Gun deaths per 100,000: 17.6 #4, Arkansas - Gun deaths per 100,000: 15.1 #5, Louisiana - Gun deaths per 100,000: 19.9 #6, New Mexico - Gun deaths per 100,000: 15 #7, Alabama - Gun deaths per 100,000: 17.6 #8, Nevada - Gun deaths per 100,000: 16.2 #9, Montana - Gun deaths per 100,000: 14.5 #10, Wyoming - Gun deaths per 100,000: 14.5 #11, Kentucky - Gun deaths per 100,000: 14.4 #12, West Virginia - Gun deaths per 100,000: 14.8 #13, Tennessee - Gun deaths per 100,000: 15 #14, Oklahoma - Gun deaths per 100,000: 13.4 #15, Idaho - Gun deaths per 100,000: 12.5 #16, Georgia - Gun deaths per 100,000: 13.1 #17, Missouri - Gun deaths per 100,000: 12.9 #18, South Carolina - Gun deaths per 100,000: 13.4 #19, North Carolina - Gun deaths per 100,000: 12.3 #20, Florida - Gun deaths per 100,000: 12.5
This is what I get from the FBI stats. http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0004986.html http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/table-20
Not all gun deaths are murder, and not all murders result in homicide convictions (which is all your info is counting). Accidental/negligent shootings count too, and - in most cases - no charges are ever filed.
So, what would you worry the most about, murder or suicide? I doubt anyone will commit suicide on you. The majority of the other deaths are suicide and studies show that the suicide rate does not change with more guns, only the method. If you are going to off yourself, you will do it one way or the other.
I see a trend. It's another post by a lib that references "gun deaths" instead of murder using a firearm. Your chart seems to include justifiable homicide(self defense) to be the same thing as murder, but you keep it in there to pad your statistics to further the notion that the gun is the problem and not the murder. Also, I don't see TX on that list. Have I mentioned that 600,000 Texans legally carry? Also any Texan who can legally own a gun can keep a loaded gun concealed in their car. I bet there are over a million Texans packing every day and by your statistics. We didn't make the top 20 in "gun death" rates. How'd that happen?
Texas is 22nd by the previous post of homicide rate per 100,000 by firearm. There is no correlation like logician wants to imply and you know where he is going. For instance, California is in the top 20 and has some of the strictest gun control and the worst has the strictest gun control, DC.
That's an interesting perspective that I've encountered before. Of course, a person who commits suicide is generally not being rational and is overcome with emotion. If an irrational person has a tool with which to commit an irrational act, (s)he will. If the irrational person has to calm down enough to focus on preparing, (s)he is less likely to carry out the irrational act. I'm not concerned with someone "committing suicide on me", but (unlike all conservatives I've encountered) my concerns are not solely for myself. http://www.who.int/bulletin/volumes/86/9/07-043489/en/
That's an amusing knee-jerk reaction... I believe I'm the only person so far to not relate these stats to "murder", and I've also never said that the gun is the problem (rather than the way it's used), so your 'appeal to motive fallacy' is clearly flawed. Are you saying that 600K Texans can legally carry, but over a million are "packing every day"? If so, aren't you saying that almost half of the people "packing" in Texas are criminals? Interesting...
I'm saying that 600,000 in TX have CHLs. Also a huge unknown number of Texans are carrying in their cars legally without a CHL. I don't allow it, but it would be legal for my 18 year old to keep a loaded gun in his truck. My house, my rules.
BS, my mothers aunt tried to commit suicide by drinking Drano and didn't succeed so she tried later using the same method and succeeded. People that really want to commit suicide will succeed. I know, you care so much that you don't care about other people's rights. Feel good tyranny - Gun Grabbers.
I believe I'm more of an expert on what I believe than you will ever be. When all you have is flame bait, you have nothing.
Driving. Is not a right. Travel may very well be. Driving is a privilege. States have to give you a license. And you call me uneducated.
