Gay rights leads to discrimination against Christians.

I can tell you exactly what will happen here: It will easily pass both the state house and state senate. Governor Snyder will make some lame statements that make it sound like he's opposed to the bill, and then he'll quietly sign it anyway. But we won't see a bill passed to extend discrimination protection to LGBTs, nor will they be able to pass a bill that funds fixing our crumbling roads.

Such is life in Michigan.

No, and I'm sick of people telling us we should just move if we want to experience equality. We have careers, elderly relatives to look after, dear friends, and a home. We're supposed to just ignore all of that, and completely disrupt our lives?

Not going to happen. I was born in this state, I've lived here my whole life, and I don't feel I should have to move merely because the current band of idiots running the show can't buy a clue. They won't be able to hold power forever.

 

Of course you are. I wasn't serious. We all have roots where we are. I don't face the challenges of gay people, but New Jersey does have it's drawbacks. Yet, I can't see moving either. Going north is to cold, going south is to red. West maybe ? no we're staying put.

I want to hear from you people, especially the one who started this dumb ass thread. I understand how you rationalize your disdain for gays by cherry picking certain passages from the bible that you then interpret to mean what you want them to mean, while ignoring all the stuff about love and charity and so on. But transgender? Does your bible say anything at all about that? Oh, I know, god does not make mistakes. Right. Look around you. Look at the mess this world is in. Wars, disease, poverty. God is either pretty damned powerless, or extremely sadistic. If god does not make mistakes, please explain why this girl child was born into the body of a boy and allowed to be tormented to the point of killing herself.

I challenge you to read her suicide note and to come up with a comment that reflects some compassion and understanding. I'll admit that I do not understand all of this god stuff, but I understand even less how this can be allowed to happen

I can tell you from the "Abortion" Forum, that young Sam abandons threads if he's not allowed to change the subject once his point or claims have been totally discredited or refuted.

A teenager who has been "Raised on Rush" and Fox News....he posts in simplistic rightwing talking points "Women who get abortions are evil and selfish, but liberals lie when they say pro-lifers hate women".....or here...."It's discrimination to not allow us to discriminate against gays"...

and when those simplistic talking points fall apart....or he simply runs out of material because he's never been challenged before....he tries to change the subject to ANOTHER talking point.

Despite my feeling sorry for the poor young man....it's actually quite optiimistic......if Ditto-head'ism is the new "intellectualism of the Right".....where formerly guys like William F. Buckley and Irving Kristol and Milton Friedman once existed....

progressivism has a promising future.

Already we're seeing that support for lack of thought and abhoring of critical thinking on the Right....where complete idiots....like Louie Gohmert and Michele Bachmann....are held up by the Right as their "leaders."

I'd say maybe maturity and experience will help alleviate it....but sadly we see just as many 50-60 year old social conservatives just like him.

They always have been. Pagans were the ones who kept alive the equal status between men and women while the mainstream religions subjugated women for thousands of years.

I have been a follower of Paganism for a number of years, not a fully active member as I do not believe in gods/goddesses regardless of the "religion", but for it's stance on equality between the sexes.
