1) The U.S did not squash Germany, it took the whole World to do it and the Soviets played a much bigger role than anyone. If it was a head to head war Germany would have squashed the U.S.
2) The U.S doesn't occupy Germany to keep them under their thumb, they did it to keep the Soviets in check and continue to keep Russia at bay.
3) Germans were put in concentration camps after the war. A genocide against ethnic Germans was carried out by the allies. Part of the Morganthau Plan, though it wasn't fully adopted.

 

The extra money should be used as generous tax credits to native German college graduates who have children. Increase birth rate.

Other then the Sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, neither Japan or Germany ever did any fighting on the US Main land. Germany had been preparing for War, so they had an advantage and head start on the rest of Europe and very well may have taken over all of Europe, Russia included, but unfortunately for Hitler, the dumb Japanese dragged the United States into WW2 and that was the difference the Allies needed. We never had to do any fighting over here, but we certainly pulled Double duty in Japan and Europe, which were far away from our homeland and a distinct disadvantage to us strategically. I think after the War and the human costs inflicted upon the World by Germany and Japan, plus they had basically been Bombed into oblivion, were helpless and vulnerable to attack, so in essence the United States still has troops there to Babysit them after all these years.
