Tech giant Google has introduced a new feature that allows businesses to mark themselves as black-owned on its Maps and Search products as part of its stated effort to support the black community. Google has not stated if it will examine applicants for the badge to ensure the companies truly have black ownership.

    https://www.breitbart.com/economy/2...-black-owned-businesses-in-searches-and-maps/

I don't care who owns a business if they have want I need/want at a reasonable price they get my business - location comes into play as I'm not driving out of the way, or into da'hood, to save a buck of two. But this BS has really gotten out of hand. How about LGBTQ owners, shouldn't their shops have a badge? Veteran owned businesses need a badge.

Are the "woke" white-guilt-ridden virtue signalers really going to go out of their way to shop at black owned businesses? (Or maybe just once, so they can take a selfie for their self righteous Instagram, and then they'll be back to patronizing their happy white hippie enclaves?)

On the flip side, are there people who are so sick of this BLM crap they will be less likely to shop at a black owned business if there is a similar white owned business nearby?

I wonder where Google thinks hispanics will want to shop..........

    So many things to ponder.

Maybe this won't have any effect at all and it is 100% virtue signaling on Google's part.

As a side note, screw Google and get DuckDuckGo, I'm pretty sure they're not into this virtue signaling bullsh*t.

Imagine the outrage that the left would have if the article read like this:

"Tech giant Google has introduced a new feature that allows businesses to mark themselves as WHITE-owned on its Maps and Search products as part of its stated effort to support the WHITE community. Google has not stated if it will examine applicants for the badge to ensure the companies truly have WHITE ownership."

Just another racist tool to help racists be racists.

If someone is using their race to attract business they will NOT attract mine.

Is Google implying we should make race based decisions?

Anyway, I can see it know; a black business struggles and goes under. The excuse will be that ever since he was marked as being a black owned business people stopped buying from him. In other words, RACISM.

Well good, nothing like pissing off millions of people. I could give a crap who owns a business, if it has a product i like and is priced reasonable I will go there, I sure as f**k won't go out of my way to go to a black owned business, just because its black, how damn racist is that?

I demand we have stickers on all businesses that tell us just what percentage of American Indian the owner is
A sticker to tell us if a white owned business have a black guy he calls his best friend
A sticker to show up that a white owned business has a relative that dated a black chick
A sticker to demonstrate how much money that business was extorted to pay the rainbow extortion ring
A sticker of stick figures "white" kissing the feet of a stick figure "black"
A sticker offering 50% off to all blacks that can demonstrate they are decendants of slaves.

Are you libs getting the picture, what did I leave out?

Seems like Google is setting themselves up for scummy lawyers to blame failed businesses on racism.

calling it now. Who’s in? :)

What if the business owner is only 1/2 black? Do I get a discount?

Michael Jackson owned a clothing store. He had boys pants half off!

I usually try to buy local because I like the idea of investing in my local community. I will even pay more to support a business owner who I know is likely going to be spending his money, and therefore taxes, in my region. However If any company wants to flaunt their "black owned" status I will go to Amazon and pay the 1%ers before I give those racists my money. I saw someone mentioned latinos earlier. I can tell you right now there are a lot in my area, and if you think whites are racists, you haven't seen nothing yet. Blacks have an interesting future coming. Asians can fend for themselves, and Hispanics have very little sympathy for their plight. They(Hispanics) are the ones heading towards majority minority status. Better enjoy the white guilt while it lasts

They ALREADY have had one since 2018.

Information that is easily findable in a simple Google Search.

    https://www.blog.google/outreach-initiatives/small-business/veteran-small-business/

That blows a hole in that "narrative".

Badges for Veteran-Owned Businesses are already available.

    And have been since 2018.

    You're welcome. :salute:

Does the lack of having a "badge" for the LGBTQWTF group not have any merit on the entire narrative that you're babbling about as being "blown"?

They do have one for LGBT.

That is even mentioned in the article.

    From the linked article:

Google introduced similar badges in 2018 for businesses to display if they were women-led or friendly to members of the LGBT community.

I guess you didn't even read the article before you commented?:bored:

    Not a good look.

Also referring to a fellow member's content as "babbling" borders on personally insulting.

Just a friendly reminder that you may want to read the entire article next time.

    Carry on.:salute:

Google is one of the most racists of all companies, basically refusing to hire blacks except as janitors and Latinos only for yard work.

So it should surprise no one that Google will do everything possible to re-institute racial segregation - like their company, which is what this is 100% about.

Your post mentioned the veteran owned business "badge" and mentioned them ONLY.

Perhaps you should post with more clarity so others know what the **** you're babbling about.

BTW... Calling a spade a spade borders on calling a spade a spade ONLY.

The Veteran's badge is super cool.

Google even made a really cool .gif honoring America's Proud Veterans.

But, in any event, you didn't read the entire OP article before you commented, or you wouldn't have made the ill-advised (and totally incorrect) comment about the lack of LGBT Badges.
(When, it was mentioned explicitly in the linked article that they (indeed) already existed).

    Everybody saw that.

That is why it can usually be helpful to read the entire linked article before commenting.

Once again, just a friendly suggestion, to avoid a recurrence.:handshake:

In general, I fully support the idea of Google Badges for Black-Owned businesses.

Since they already have existed (for quite awhile) for Veterans, Women, LGBT, Etc.

I’d like a GPS app extension for Google Earth so I can identify where all the Anarchist Leftist no go zones are and where the latest rioter-protester mob is currently forming

Yeah, maybe a colored star or something, that way we can know exactly who the special people are.
