What a great American he is. More people should die so the economy gets better? Is this the GOP's plan to make America Great Again?

"An Indiana congressman said Tuesday that letting more Americans die from the novel coronavirus is the "lesser of two evils" compared with the economy cratering due to social distancing measures.

Speaking with radio station WIBC in Indiana, Republican Rep. Trey Hollingsworth asserted that, while he appreciated the science behind the virus' spread, "it is always the American government's position to say, in the choice between the loss of our way of life as Americans and the loss of life, of American lives, we have to always choose the latter."

Open it up and let the people decide. You want to go to work go to work. You want to be a ***** you can keep your social distancing. No one is forcing you to stop. In fact all of you can keep at least six feet away from me whether or not you have covid.

The first law of Pandemic Economics is that if you want to control the economy, you have to control the virus.

I'm not an expert and am only repeating what I've learned. But it does't take a great leap of intellect to recognize this: Life is simply not going to return to normal when a trip to McDonald's or a movie could kill you. And we were facing the possibility of the system being overwhelmed to the point that there are/were bodies in the streets.

Life is not going to return to normal when a trip to Starbucks is traumatizing because a dead guy was blocking the door.

What about when people who think they are not sick start attacking people they think are sick and spreading it?

Not the first to say that the cure is worse than the disease. It is refreshing to see the sudden interest in health. Pharm products and medical errors are far more deadly, but people are pushing for more.

Your first mistake was believing the Communist propaganda site....CNN = CCP
Looks as though you believe in what you want and what you "value".

I think today there are just as many hard core loyal CCP operatives here in the USA as there are genuine patriotic American citizens. Many in positions of power and influence. Serious trouble for freedom in America on the horizon.

Nancy Pelosi and Dims prepare to fight the Presidents withdrawal of funding from the CCP run WHO. I suppose you love the WHO?

PS. He didn't say that. CNN twisted it and you ate it up faster than a wet market live entree.

Maybe 60k of over 300million die, most of whom are old and already sick and vulnerable, but 10s of millions never lose their jobs, untold small businesses and families lives are never destroyed and everyone doesn’t lose 1/2 their savings or worse? Farms might not recover.

Some who might have died actually survive for a few more years, but their savings are depleted and remaining days are basically spent in poverty, depressing & miserable... but at least theyre alive right? Kids can’t afford college who once did 6 months ago, but hey at least 90yr old Nana is still kicking for a couple years?

Sometimes the big picture is more important. The economy IS LIFE.

I know the article implies that a GOP congressman wants millions to die for the sake of the economy, but as the OP article reveals -

"It's hyperbolic to say that the only choices before us are the two corner solutions: no economy or widespread casualties."

"We can use the best of biology and economics to enable as much of the economy to operate as possible while we work to minimize disease transmission."

There's nothing wrong with looking for a way to reasonably achieve both goals. Also, you can't simultaneously harp on this guy while applauding the Democrat governers who are ready to open up their state economies.

You don't think people will die from a cratered economy?
