This story comes from an FBI agent, who found the attitudes of the agency he was proud to be part of shifting to conflict with the very purpose it exists for. Objecting to that put him in the crosshairs of the agency- and cost him his position. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated situation. It's like there is an identity crisis where people managing long-respected services of the government no longer relate to the fundamental values that made their agencies trusted and respected, and have chosen the "dark side".

This is not just the FBI, similar stories have come out about other agencies. And while the ability to control this lies in the hands of Congress, that institution has allowed itself to further lose sight of its mission and standards as well, and is now in a state of chaos. One member of the many members of Congress who have chosen not to run for re-election used that term specifically in giving his reasons. This condition is a threat to the survival of the nation- and we had better find an answer soon.

There has to be a solution- and the future of the nation depends on us making it happen.
