Hitler eliminated the communists for the same reason that he killed Ernst Röhm and hundreds of other SA officers on the Night of the Long Knives.

They were not communists but merely rivals for power.

No; Hitler was a paranoid psychopath who routinely killed anyone he saw as a threat to his ideology. Stalin was his mirror opposite who did exactly the same.

 

Stalin was not so different from Hitler.

They were both autocrats who just happened to live in different countries.

No big surprise. Large swathes of academia have always been virulently anti Semitic and it was the European intelligentsia that cheered on Hitler despite knowing his views on the Jews.
