    https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-522/methylsulfonylmethane-msm

Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is a chemical found in green plants, animals, and humans. It can also be made in a laboratory.

MSM became popular because of a book called "The Miracle of MSM: The Natural Solution for Pain." But there is little published scientific research to support its use. Some literature that promotes MSM states that MSM can treat sulfur deficiency. But there is no Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for MSM or sulfur, and sulfur deficiency has not been described in the medical literature.

People use MSM for osteoarthritis. It is also used for pain, swelling, aging skin, and many other conditions. But there is no good scientific evidence to support most of these uses.

No difference, because as a healthcare worker, I'm well aware of mortality and of the various causes that lead to it, for all of us, of course. I'm perfectly aware that someone may feel fully healthy one day, and the next day have a bad stroke or heart attack or get diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. So, COVID-19 is another way for people to die... in itself it doesn't enhance my perception of mortality.

This said, of course I've been adopting as many epidemiological protections as I can, because I do not intend to die from this, or to have one of the complications (more and more evidence of mid-term consequences is popping up, introducing the spectrum of some nasty long-term consequences; the death toll for this virus is not the full story).

That is, I'm wearing high quality masks with good seal and the right way, and eye protection; I have an 8-oz hand sanitizer in my breast pocket, I keep social distancing, and never go into any crowded indoors environment if I can avoid it (at work, I obviously can't always avoid it, but then I do wear full and advanced PPE). My wife and I have curtailed our social life, and these days we stay home, cook at home, watch TV series and movies, etc., instead of meeting with friends or going to restaurants.

I am very hopeful for vaccines, and I believe that the odds that we'll get a safe and efficacious vaccine relatively soon are advancing fast. Then I'll go back to a more normal social life, if I get good neutralizing antibodies from a vaccine.

Nice post, but just an observation: Stupid people do not outnumber smart people. As a matter of fact half of the population is of above-average intelligence, while the other half is of below-average intelligence. Think of the Bell Curve.

But yes, the stupid ones do make things difficult.

The toxicity level of MSM is equivalent to H2O..... essentially zero.... according to Stanley Jacobs M. D. so once I got through the worst of the detoxification side effects..... I take quite large amounts of MSM.... regularly more than ten thousand mgms daily.

The most annoying symptom of detoxification is diarrhea... drinking lots of extra water along with MSM seems to help.

In the last few years, I’ve lost three important people in my like to cancer and 5 to CVD.

One or both of those is likely to kill us all if we are not lucky enough to die of age related organ failure.

11 million have died this year alone of starvation or of communicable diseases other than COVID!

But so what? Bringing this up is a distraction people whine.

The US is expected to have 300 thousand deaths by the end of the year based on a lot of padded data.

Even if those numbers were real that is 9 dead out of 10,000 in the US!!!

The Netherlands is doing very well by allowing controlled exposure and nearly everything is open again.

If the virus has made me rethink anything, it’s made me think that people have no idea how lucky we are to live in the west and have the luxury of worrying (navel gazing) about small threats. (And how little people understand proportions)

Mortality is inevitable but I choose to worry about things that are likely to kill me and people I care about.
