It seems the Political Opinions and Beliefs forum has become the new Conspiracy Theory sub forum.

    Just more popular.

On the first page there are about ten conspiracy theory threads. We have training exercises being a show of force to destroy our freedoms (laughable), Communists in the Catholic Church (laughable), the Communist Conspiracy (laughable), A "Homosexual Agenda" against the Catholic Church (laughable), A vast conspiracy against our favorite fringe candidate Paul (laughable), etc. etc. Seems like in every thread I reply to I feel the need to post "Um.... nope. This is not a vast conspiracy, its just X".

Why resort to conspiracy theories? Why believe this blatant stupidity and non-sense? Is there just not enough wrong in the world? Our world is in flames, is that so boring that best next choice is intellectual bankruptcy in silly conspiracy theories?

Seriously. Have a standard of evidence. You will look much less foolish.

    conspiracy
    1.
    the act of conspiring.
    2.
an evil, unlawful, treacherous, or surreptitious plan formulated in secret by two or more persons; plot.
    3.
a combination of persons for a secret, unlawful, or evil purpose: He joined the conspiracy to overthrow the government.
    4.
Law . an agreement by two or more persons to commit a crime, fraud, or other wrongful act.
    5.
any concurrence in action; combination in bringing about a given result.

Conspiracies do exist. Ignoring them plays into the hands of the conspirators.

Hitler conspired to overthrow Germany. He did. Castro to Cuba...he did. Marx to the ruling family of Russia in 1917; it worked. They do exist. You can't ignore them and to make fun of them is to thumb your nose at history.

Except Marx died in 1883...kinda hard to conspire to overthrow anyone when your dead.

Oh, I can thumb my nose at silly conspiracy theories.

If they were fact, they wouldn't be referred to as conspiracy theories now would they?

Yes, but Lenin carried on for Marx by proxy so-to-speak.

    Um.... nope.

Facts do not involve the act of connecting invisible dots.

You talk in tiny litle circles. What dots...there are no dots, just dates in history.

I am not referring to facts in history. I am referring to the myriad of silly conspiracy theories on PF that have little or no basis in reality.

    The invisible dots:

    1. Miltary training
    2. ?????
    3. Massive take over of rights and a demonstration of force by Obama

My favorite theory is that Obama is funded by Goldman Sachs, wrist-slapped the biggest thieves in the history of earth for their crimes, has proven himself to be an uber-corrupt-crony, authoritarian and liar; and liberals still believe in him.

Police detectives work with invisible "dots" (as you put it) all the time and eventually those dots become visible and they prove their case. Many times it takes years to do so, but eventually all that sparse information assimilates into not a theory, but an actuality. The theory of today becomes tomorrows fact.

It would be great if everyone would start threads in the correct forum, according to the thread guidelines for respectful discussion, and adhere to the rules at all times.
Since that is wishful thinking, we do have 'report'. We will do our best to redirect.
However, all people from all walks of life are welcome to give their opinions in a respectful manner, whether we agree or not, and we cannot and will not stop anyone from doing so within the rules of the forum and its mission statement.

There is a difference between an actual conspiracy, and, a conspiracy theory...
