Technically he's not a soldier, he's a Marine...well former Marine anyway. Che Guevera planned an attack against New York City that was thwarted... Younger people have a romantacized view of who he actually was. They wear his image on t-shirts to make them look anti-establishment...but the underlying person was no more than a thug. Lee Harvey Oswald was another former Marine who sympathized with Castro and we all know what he did.
History always gets distorted with time and the willingness of the ignorant to change it. Woodrow wilson was a giant racist. Andrew Jackson was fine with genocide. George washington was a slave owning pot smoker, along with many of the founding fathers. Ronald Reagan was suffering from dementia for most of his second term. Your opinion of che is just that, an opinion.
Well if I had an avatar of Woodrow Wilson, you would be free to criticize my choice and enlighten me about the real Woodrow Wilson. I'm merely educating the young man about the person on his avatar. I'm not telling him to take it down or change it. I believe it is the equivalent to using Erwin Rommel as an avatar...a solid General, but an enemy of the United States nonetheless. Guevara despised American capitalism, and urged Castro to attack us. I think if a Marine stood before the real Che Guevara, Che would not hesitate to kill him as a representation of Ameican Imperialism. I don't see the point in acknowledging a person who for all intents and purposes wants you dead...fortunately the Green Berets and the CIA got to Guevara before he got to any American. He was shot dead in Bolivia and became a Communist martyr ever since.
