Why would a Swede want to abandon such a high standard of living and nice lifestyle?

The government needs to get money in one way or another so they can pay for the luxury houses and BMW's to the illegal immigrants from Somalia and Iraq. God forbid they have a bad time here in Sweden. The government would rather have that Swedes lose all their money and live in (*)(*)(*)(*)ty apartments with no money, rather than the poor illegal immigrants having a hard time affording their beloved BMW and their 4th 80 inch LED TV screen.

Yep. Basically you bend over and when it's all said and done, if you're lucky the government leaves you with a few bucks.

The problem in Euro lands is that they tend to charge people VAT on everything, and that on top of income taxes and such. But then, I think they also tend to earn more..

 

I would. I buy everything from America so if I lived in the same country as the sellers, I wouldn't have to worry about customs. Also shipping would be cheaper and more convenient.

 

So what if we earn more? Everything is costs twice as much here in Europe compared to America. Look at the Playstation 4. Instead of converting the price from $ to the equivalent amount of £, they just kept the number and replaced $ with £.
We are paying almost twice as much for everything compared to Americans, so the higher salary here in Europe is no good argument.
