https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/high-inflation-costing-americans-extra-1k-month HYPERLINK has full article snip High inflation costing Americans an extra $1,069 a month compared with 3 years ago Americans are paying on average $784 more each month compared with the same time two years ago and $1,069 more compared with three years ago, before the inflation crisis began........... In the three-month period from October to December, total credit card debt rose to $1.13 trillion, an increase of $50 billion, or 4.6% from the previous quarter, according to the report. It marks the highest level on record in Fed data dating back to 2003 and the 10th consecutive annual increase. end snip That is the pain felt by the regular folks. No matter what talking points are put forth by the Democrat National Committee(media matters) and propagated by the Democrat media, the folks feel the pain. Messaging does not change the sad reality of the folks who are feeling the squeeze.
Where are you talking about how this affects the middle class. It so .......... does not fit into your one-sided agenda. Failed to deliver promised economic benefits. Trump Administration officials claimed their centerpiece corporate tax rate cut would “very conservatively” lead to a $4,000 boost in household income.[5] New research shows that workers who earned less than about $114,000 on average in 2016 saw “no change in earnings” from the corporate tax rate cut, while top executive salaries increased sharply.[6] Similarly, rigorous research concluded that the tax law’s 20 percent pass-through deduction, which was skewed in favor of wealthy business owners, has largely failed to trickle down to workers in those companies who aren’t owners.[7] Like the Bush tax cuts before it,[8] the 2017 Trump tax cut was a trickle-down failure. https://www.cbpp.org/research/feder...d-to-the-rich-expensive-and-failed-to-deliver
Yeah not sure what legal steps can be used, at best maybe price gouging, but your data clearly shows an area where the corps have been taking advantage. That said, I have noticed some like bananas and onions and a select few others are price steady. Others like bread and the like have jumped, which has bled into lunch counters and the like.
you may call it whatever serves the message of your Democrat party. The folks are hurting and you are more focused on the message of a political party. Very telling indeed
the article discuses how the folks have been impacted the past 3 years. That is during the Democrat administration. Feel free to refute the facts posted within the linked article. Or, feel free to agree that the average folks are hurting
It is his 2nd paragraph, but I've posted another source for the argument. https://fortune.com/europe/2023/12/08/greedflation-study/
FYI in a response, my post was edited which is against the rules. I have 1 and only 1 link in the OP but you followed a link which supports your Democrat talking point, despite it being opinion.
got something that isn’t behind a paywall? And no, I’ve checked his whole post and no mention of profit margin
My guess is he along with grapeape have no idea what the difference is between profits and profit margin.
https://www.casey.senate.gov/news/r...are-charging-women-more-for-the-same-products Another link. I didn't get a paywall block when I used the other site.
Corporate profiteering under the guise of inflation, understandable but pick your poison : ‘Greedflation’ caused more than half of last year’s inflation surge, study finds, as corporate profits remain at all-time highs ‘Greedflation’ Statistics & Trends 2024 Half of recent US inflation due to high corporate profits, report finds an older one: Greedflation: are large firms using crises as cover to push up their profits?
I appreciate it, no idea why I hit the paywall but your other link there works fine so thanks for humoring me! That said, I’m still not seeing anything talk about profit margin. Profits, sure. Not profit margin. This is an important distinction because when making allegations of price gouging you can talk about all the increases and ways companies are passing the buck whether through hidden this or less product that, but it’s all meaningless if there is no requisite increase in their profit margin. I sell my product at $100 and my profit margin is 3%, to take the average margin of a grocery store as an example. I’ve just made $3 profit. Inflation forced my expenses up so now I have to charge $130 dollars which means I’ve made “record profits” of $3.30. Everyone freaks out because I’ve made record profits and I’m clearly price gouging. Except no I haven’t. If I was truly price gouging I might’ve increased prices say to $160 dollars, blame inflation, and pocketed the extra $30 but my profit margin would’ve given away the whole game because it would’ve sky rocketed.
A rise in inflation that CONTINUES under the Do-Nothing GOP Congress. With GOP controlling the House for over a year, we see a continuing rise in inflation. Thx Alot, Republicans! MORE of The Economic DISASTER of GOP House Control! GOP Votes Have Consequences... Never Good For The Common Folk...
Did you even open her studies? Her study was beyond embarrassing, she compared boys and girls stuff and came to the conclusion girls are over charged. What she didn't do is look in to materials or input COGs. In lefty world you get the brain dead presidents and the dumb of the dumb elected officials living off that government check.
Appreciate the info. As I said in another post, I tend to shop at more than one store, more than one gas station to try and get the best bargain, and in doing so, say some produce has not changed, yet other products have gone through the roof. Right after covid, it was gas prices, they have come down close to pre covid, yet nothing has been lowered. Albeit there can be more in play, but corp reports are showing very good profit percentages. My link was one.
Inflation is the consequence of economic growth in a country. And below 4%, inflation is considered to be under control by all the world's central banks.
If this is literally all you are seeing... then you are clearly not looking or experiencing what the vast majority of Americans are experiencing. Maybe your staff buys the groceries for you, but a single reusable bag of groceries should not cost $97 and that has NOTHING to do with greedflation, but retail shrinkage. Stores can't afford to charge current prices when people are walking out with an inordinate amount of product. My property tax has increase 48%, food cost has increased at least 20%, gas has increased 11%.. these are real increases to consumers and peoples pocket books.
in a 3-year period, the avg folks are now spending over $1,000 more per month just to tread water compared to 3 years ago. That is the article, that is what the facts show. Is that a good thing?
Great. The economy is already anticipating that Trump will be president in 2025, and is expecting a spending spree. See how that works? P.S.: This is not meant to be taken seriously.
