Hillary Clinton: 'What kind of genius loses $1 billion in a year?'

With half an indictment of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, and half a treatise on her plan for the economy, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton came to Ohio on Monday to try to level a race in the battleground state that has been shifting toward her competitor.

Speaking to a crowd of 1,200 people that filled a train station in downtown Toledo, Clinton said she’s the person who has the interests of all Americans at heart.

“In the debate (Trump) said it was smart to avoid paying taxes. His campaign was bragging that it makes him a genius. But what kind of genius loses $1 billion in a single year?” Clinton said. ………….

…….“He was contributing nothing to our economy, nothing for Pell grants, nothing for veterans, nothing for the military,” she added. “Trump represents the same rigged system that he claims he’s going to change. ... Trump was taking from America with both hands and leaving the rest of us with the bill.”...............................

And a “smart” and proud member of Romney’s 47% of Americans who do not pay income tax……

And yall want him as your leader?

POLL: Trump calls tax avoidance "smart," most Americans call it "unpatriotic"

NEW YORK, Oct 4 (Reuters) - Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump says paying no income tax would make him "smart." While nearly half of Americans agree with him, more people think it is "selfish," and "unpatriotic," according to a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll released on Tuesday.

Some 67 percent of Americans said it is "selfish" for a presidential candidate to pay no taxes, while 61 percent said it is "unpatriotic," according to the poll, which allowed respondents to pick more than one adjective to describe paying no taxes.

During the first presidential debate with his rival Democrat Hillary Clinton last month, Trump responded to Clinton's allegation that he paid no federal taxes by saying that would make him "smart."

“What is he trying to say: that those of us who pay taxes aren’t intelligent?” said poll respondent Yonna McNerney, 41, of Denver.

Again then are the 47% who pay no taxes unpatriotic? How about anyone who uses tax deductions ? You are the one saying those who pay taxes are unintelligent and if you pay more than you have to you are

have you ever seen some of the audits for the department of state? they lose billions EVERY year... I mean look how much money is lost on all the contractors they hire for this or that, and this is just the KNOWN fraud and waste, imagine how much more is really under the hood that we can't neatly identify... look what happens when they run estimates for something, have you EVER in your ENTIRE LIFE seen a government estimate that held true when the bill was paid, or are they always off by hundreds of millions and sometimes billions of dollars when they are done... and you want to lecture people about waste, fraud, etc etc? look what the other did with OUR money...

Is Hillary campaigning on removing all income tax credits for everyone?
I'd like to hear her explain how following US tax code is unpatriotic and when is Hillary going to go after the congress people that passed those laws, anyway?

Is the New York Times also a parasitic plague on America considering they not only did not pay taxes but would up with tax credits of $3.5 million in 2014?

Exactly how many years in prison did Donald Trump spend anyway, breaking US tax laws? Oh, right....none, because he's broken no laws at all.

You seem to confuse not paying taxes with taking legally allowed deductions from IT income.....

The two are not the same and therefore not be compared to produce any logical conclusion...........

Now let's remember I have not said or made any judgment on the millionaires/billionaires who populate the ranks of the 47% who do not pay taxes........

This was the results of a poll.............where those polled 67% thought for those in the class of folks Trump belongs to said ".........

Some 67 percent of Americans said it is "selfish" for a presidential candidate to pay no taxes, while 61 percent said it is "unpatriotic..........."

So it would seem you feel otherwise.............

But please do not confuse folks who pay taxes and use the itemized deductions.......with those who pay no taxes at all...........

WaPo: Thousands of millionaires don't pay federal income taxes

Tax documents obtained by The New York Times show that Donald Trump declared a massive net operating loss of $916 million in 1995, enough to allow him to avoid paying federal income taxes for up to 18 years. The documents shed light on provisions in the U.S. tax code that allow wealthy individuals to avoid income tax payments even in years when they make millions.

In 1995, Donald Trump declared $3.4 million in business income, $7.4 million in interest income, and close to $100,000 in income from other sources like dividends, taxable refunds and wages. But this income was more than offset but hundreds of millions of dollars in reported losses from real estate and "the financial wreckage he left behind in the early 1990s through mismanagement of three Atlantic City casinos, his ill-fated foray into the airline business and his ill-timed purchase of the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan," according to the Times.

About 46 percent of all tax filers (individuals or households) pay no federal income taxes each year because of various exclusions. High-income tax filers make up a tiny portion of that number, but they are by far the biggest beneficiaries. More than half of the tax revenue lost to the most common tax exclusions stays in the pockets of the richest one-fifth of Americans, according to an analysis by the Congressional Budget Office.

While it's rare for high-earners to pay no federal income tax, it's not unheard of. In 2011, for instance, about 433,000 tax filers with incomes over $100,000 paid no federal income tax, according to estimates based on limited IRS data by the Tax Policy Center, a non-profit think tank. That number includes approximately 4,000 filers with an income of $1 million or more.

Those who pay no taxes at all are paying no taxes because of deductions.

You can't claim that 47% of Americans have earned no income during the entire year.

Like Trump, they take deductions that result in any withholdings being returned, etc.

Amen. I got that, and should have made it clearer.

I'm just curious how Romney and the rest of the R's choose which zero tax payers to hate and which zero tax payers to love.

I believe Mr Romney's comment was not about hate............but for rich folks to have an excuse for cutting social service programs and not feel guilty............

We all to often charge other folks with hate......

Hate is one of the 7 deadly sins..........

And as have been taught..........and have read in the Bible................that call is fore God to make
