    Any ideas?

It concerns me that such racists managed to hijack our proud british heritage for their own nefarious actions.,especially considering they are germanic and the celts certainly would never associate with such barbarians.

Because it's an old symbol of their people and they are romatic nationalists. And the britons are not germanic, only partially. I'd bet they're half or more celtic. Nazis have a tendency to steal rather good symbols. I mean look at the swastika, symmetrical and nice, quite impressive, but now totally suicidal to use in any context except if you're a hindu. This is especially annoying if you're a history fan, as me, and all the cool old celtic and germanic symbols are used by neo-nazi groups.

The same way they exprpriated the runic alphabet for unit insignia. Very powerful and magical symbols of another age, upon which they wished to build a new age.

I say do what you want. It's context that makes it wrong, not the symbol itself.

Most people don't think that way though.. unfortunately. But the swastika is undoubtedly tainted for a very, very, very long time.

no, germans are not celts obviously but british people are genetically majorly celtic. And Nazi's can very well be christian, if yet hypocritical ones.

There was no single "Celtic" identity, but several distinct peoples and tribes, which mostly originated around the headwaters of the Rhone, Rhine and Danube about 1,000 BC. Genetically 75% of "Britons" arrived here from Iberia in Paleolithic times, before the Celts or Germans existed. We're mostly Spanish here, Si?

The celts were the western tribes of this culture, which would make them more French and ties them into the Iberia nicely. The germans never really adopted celtic culture as far as Im aware.
