How about a 9mm+ for CC, a 9mm+ nightstand, a suppressed AR, a suppressed .300 BO, a .22 target pistol, a .22 rifle for plinking, a normal 12 ga pump or semi in 28", a 12 ga bullpup for closeness, and a .20 ga semi tactical shotty. And a long range problem solver in 7mm mag or 6.5 or .338.
Why shouldn't they? Most people have at least one umbrella, a couple pairs of shoes, some kitchen cutlery and a frying pan. A gun is the same thing, for a normal person.
So let's turn this conversation on its ear: Why are people so afraid of other people owning a firearm?
Maybe projection? They know they have violent tendencies and don’t trust themselves with firearms. They mistakenly believe everyone has the same tendencies so they fear others having weapons. Further evidence of this is how these people tend to sympathize with criminals who use guns more than innocent victims of crime or people who use firearms in self defense. They constantly blame inanimate objects instead of bad human behavior for acts of violence. They naturally empathize with the aggressor because they themselves are aggressors. We see further evidence they are the aggressors because they are inherently authoritarian and wish to use force to relieve law abiding people of private property and means of self defense.
I had to count them, is in the double digits. Pretty normal for Texas. I wonder if you realize lots of folks have inherited firearms in their collections... ?
Various posts have brought up hunting. The purpose of the Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting. Americans have the right to own, possess and carry any firearm of common utility to the military forces of their time. That is the purpose of the Second Amendment, that citizens may have the means to defeat a tyrannical government.
In most cases it's because they are reflecting how they would react if they where armed with a firearm.
to serve as a prophylactic against the disease of controlfreakitis and its related strain called gun grabber fever.
I did some consolidating and modernizing of my collection. I currently own 8 rifles, 2 shotguns, 7 handguns.Previously I owned two or three times that number in total, but over the years I have sold some to be able to afford brands and models I wanted more. I have also given firearms and ammunition as gifts. I have never ever not even once won a gun in a raffle. Most importantly not a single gun or round of ammunition I now own or have owned in the past has committed a single illegal, immoral or fattening act. Not, once, not ever.
Nice! I went the other direction. I have all the modern firearms I need and have been adding curios and relics. I enjoy shooting the antiques more than the modern firearms.
The gun owning population is much higher than 33 percent. Most people don't want anyone to know what they own so when polls and **** like this pop up they answer no. I would guess in 2021. Close to 40-45 percent of the population is probably armed with at least one firearm. I would consider normal ownership levels would be a Pistol and some sort of Long rifle like a shotgun or Hunting rifle/ Defensive rifle to be about the norm. I keep a Pistol, a Shot gun, a Hunting rifle, and a defensive rifle around and that's it. You can only carry what you can carry.
I agree with this. Don't know about the numbers but the claim that people routinely lie to pollsters about NOT owning guns is spot-on. I have done so myself. I do answer political polls over the phone, online and in person at events. I do not lie about my opinions which vary from conservative to liberal depending on the topic, but I always say I do not own any guns and never have. Which is a flat out bald faced lie.
Well, some people are hunters who use them to take game. Some people are sport shooters in that they enjoy various shooting competitions such as skeet, trap and Assorted pistol events. Some people are just collectors. Some people just grew up around them and inherit them from parents, etc Some of us live places like Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, Memphis and well we like to be better armed then drug runners, punks and thugs who would like to take our stuff from us. Plus there’s that piece of old paper that kinda says we can own one if we like.
