I borrowed this quote from @Bluesguy to start this thread.

Lots of people have posted the phrase "he's not under the law" in response to posts that no one is above the law.

That sounds like a good topic for a discussion. How is Trump being subjected to laws being applied in unique manners ?

For example, the GA charges are being made as part of a RICO case. The theory being that Trump and his cohorts were a corrupt organization when they came together and committed illegal acts designed to bring about an illegal outcome, the reversal of the GA election results. Under RICO , membership in the illegal organization is a crime. Therefore the fake electors are criminals just for being part of the organization.

    What say you ?

If anything, he's been given special privileges. Like no mug shots. And judges who have warned him not to intimidate potential jurors, or to incite people against prosecutors or witnesses have been extremely complacent.

This last part I am extremely concerned about. Clearly he has many supporters who are prone to violence. Is it only a matter of time?

And , lest we forget the kid gloves treatment:

The Trump University lawsuits were settled in a hurry and approved by a judge who Trump publicly accused of being biased with no repercussions:

"You may recall that on the campaign trail, Trump accused Curiel of being biased because he is "Mexican." That claim was false — Curiel was born in Indiana —
and even House Speaker Paul Ryan acknowledged that it was "sort of like the textbook definition of racism."

Well, Trump was impeached for simply mentioning Bribed Joe taking a $10M bribe to get the UK equivalent to our AG fired, but, we also assured by some of the Left that's it's fine that Bribed Biden took that bribe because firing the prosecutor was US policy. That's quite a different standard depending on whether you are a Trump or a Biden and for you to pretend that there isn't a double standard is so comical that I have no wish to get your way, but, it turns out that Bribed Joe was lying again, it was not US policy that the prosecutor Biden was bribed to get fired, had to be fired as a condition of the $One Billion in aid.

Have newly disclosed State memos demolished Biden's Ukraine defense?

'Joe Biden bragged that he forced Ukraine president Petro Poroshenko to fire state prosecutor Viktor Shokin in 2015 by holding up $1 billion in US aid over Shokin’s supposed corruption. “I’m telling you, you’re not getting the billion dollars,” Biden tells the audience. “I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money. Well, son of a bitch. He got fired,” Biden said, laughing:'

'Shokin indeed got fired, an outcome that Biden claimed that the US and our allies required as a step toward correcting the corruption. However, a newly released memo from the State Department undermines the entire basis of Biden’s extortion on Poroshenko. Not only had the Obama administration assessed Shokin favorably before Biden’s trip to Kyiv, they had already approved the billion-dollar aid package:'

Biden could end up running for president from jail.

Yes. Trump is being treated with kid gloves. He's in a different tier. Any of us would already be in jail by now.

I agree. I think Trump receiving this many privileges that NO other criminals receives is sign of a two tier justice system. Cuff him! Take mug-shots... Lock him up the SECOND he disobeys the judge's orders to not attack prosecutors, witnesses and not try to manipulate potential jurors...;. you know... same as ANYBODY who is prosecuted!

I'd say he's been treated with great difference....

He's been handled with a triple pair of kid gloves and would likely have gotten away with all the wrong doings because of politics. It's one of the worst messages you can ever send in a free society and we are likely going to see the level of corrupt political "scum" increase tenfold. He is the swamp.

Trump didn't break any laws, so he shouldn't have to be booked, to begin with.

The facts say otherwise. Sorry the facts hurt your feelings, but they remain facts.

RICO is for criminal mobs and drug gangs engaged in huge criminal enterprises over property and money with lots of little crimes under one big umbrella. NOT a presidential candidate speaking to a SecState on the telephone about fraudulent votes being illegally included in the certification of any election. If this is not a unique application then show me all these precedent cases that have come previously.

How about saying something in an election that you know is false, can you show me when that was a crime previous to Trump?

Let address one of your "facts": Trump participated in an insurrection. 1. There was no insurrection. How do we know? Well, because no one has yet to be charged with 18 USC 2383. 2. He never incited violence in any way. Inciting violence requires very specific language to qualify as a crime.

Which "fact" do you want to take on next?
