Thought this was really cool. I am a big fan of Bush, not because of his policies, but because of his constant devotion to service men and women everywhere. Say what you want about his choices, but his continued work with the Wounded Warrior Project as well as his volunteer work with men and women of our armed forces is really something he should be admired for. http://www.buzzfeed.com/bennyjohnson/how-to-thank-a-solder-by-george-w-bush
Too bad Bush did not live up to it. He thanked soldiers by allowing money that should have been used to pay them more money and pay for better benefits to be handed to weapons manufactures and other scumbags in the military-iondustrial complex, and he bashed anyone who said we should raise taxes to get more money to pay soldiers with. He also denounced the production of better body armor and vehicle armor to protect soldiers because it would cost too much, when he gave far more money than it would cost in undeserved tax breaks to his corporate buddies.
And it is good to see the attitude to soldiers change since the boys came home from Vietnam. We might not politically agree about why the wars were fought, but we have stopped blaming the kids that went to fight them
Except Bush saying not to blame soldiers for bad wars does not excuse his lack of care about supporting soldiers with proper pay and benefits.
And the OP specifically requested this not be about the politics, but the human wreckage left behind when the smoke clears. In focusing on the polices that lead to these situations, are we not disrespecting the kids that went and did the job
There's really a lot more going on than what you read on your internet websites. There is serious issues with any war, and only the negative will be publicized. I don't personally know a single veteran, former or current, who doesn't love Bush as a president because of his devotion to our military. Throw whatever link or article you want out there, but that man cares more about veterans then you ever will, and it he proves it daily. I really don't want to turn this into a political argument, I never mentioned Obama's level of support for vets. Just thought it was cool showing how Bush interacted with members of our military time and again.
I'm a vet, who did two deployments in Iraq. And, I despise Bush for sending us to fight a needless war. Granted, I don't demonize the man like many leftwing zealots do, but his actions concerning Iraq where detestable at best.
Where's all the Bush supporters? The right wing is too embarrassed to post anything that doesn't include "I hate Obama", or admit their selection for President is even worse than what they whine about.
It did? Someone forgot to tell all those dead soldies that it did. Yeah, well it wasn't really the clip I wanted to show, because THIS clip shows just how much G.W. Bush understands the sacrifice of soldiers, and how he equates it with having to give up golf! LOL!
Election of a Democratic President could 'eventually lead to another attack on the United States.' According to our friend, that is a 'bone-headedly wrong statement'. Actually, I believe that is a correct statement. 'Someday charged with war crimes' Yeah, still waiting on those.... 'They'll greet us as liberators' Well they did, actually, almost all Iraqis greeted us like the Allies in Holland during WWII. It's not our fault if we over estimated their ability to govern themselves. That was just the fist two minutes, I can only imagine how good the last 7 are.
It could be incorrect. After all, we invade and bomb countries now before they do anything to us. The "Bush" strategy.
No, I'd rather tell my fellow comrades that never came home, that we accomplished somthing in a (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up war, that you and the rest of the Kieth Overbites said we couldn't do.
