a few weeks ago from Ace Hardware. This morning I received an e-mail offer from Amazon for fly strips. Same brand, same size package. I had never purchased fly strips before in my life. What are the chances, eh? How long do you believe it will be before retailers eliminate the cash option?
Kind of makes you wonder whether Ace Hardware is collecting information on their customers and feeding it into a database. More and more large retailers have begun doing this. The controversy is when personal information and personal buying preferences are given out to outside entities that use the information to selectively target prospective customers.
Did they have your information on file or did you just use a debit/credit card? Just curious if it was actually the store or the bank. If I had to bet it was/is the bank selling these lists.
I'm sure that's what Ace did and I gotta admit, I'm none too happy about it. I buy a lot of things that are much more personal than fly strips.
Used a debit card and the bank has my e-mail address. Ace does not, so it had to be the bank. Dirty rotten thieves.
