Side effects typically are stronger after 24hrs of the injection, and will last for 24-48hrs after that. But not everybody has them.

I have grappled with this question before. The difficulty is not to vary the mRNA sequence to include the altered sequence of the variant. That's easy. One could even probably mix mRNAs coding for 2-3 variants together. However, would we need a new sequence of clinical trials for each variant? Or could the trial at least be reduced in size and scope? I don't know the answer to these questions.

7 hours after the shot, and my arm is a bit sorer than I remember with the first shot. Nothing else going on, though. I'll talk about it over the next 24 hours.

It ain't over by any means. Even with the second shot plus 2 to 3 weeks.
But being imune against most of the current virus and mutations, 95%, gives a certain safety.
But one should not forget, one could be a carrier, like a asymptomatic and infect not jet vaccinated.

As I write this it’s about 22 hours after the second shot. My arm is quite sore, and I feel a bit run down and a little achy. Nothing severe though. I’m going to take a couple Advils and take it easy today.

The FDA has said that no, they will not require large phase 3 clinical trials, just some safety data.

I wouldn't take the Advil. Even though some sources are saying it's fine, there is some evidence that NSAIDS blunt cell immunity induced by mRNA vaccines. Just wait, everything will go away in another 24 hrs, 48 at most. (I saw this too late, you probably took the Advil already - oh well, just don't take more).

It’s now just under 48 hours since the second shot, and I’m feeling much better. The arm soreness is receding, and I feel much more chipper all around. My experience is consistent with the experience of many people.

I got my shot at 11:40 am, its now 4pm and the spot were they needled me is not one bit sore. From previous vaccinations I know that in a couple of hours you have sometimes a reaction around were you got needled, within I hour or so. minor swelling, a little red etc.
    Absolut nothing.
My second last vaccination was 8 years ago against shingles, after a 2 year fight to get rid of them. After 2 hours I had a small red ring around the injection point, gone the next day. Same with my 5 years Tetanus. I wait with this years 5 year booster till end of March.
Don't want to mix the vaccinations and possible reactions, let the old machine take it one step at a time.

Read a interesting piece explaining why the body might react a little more severe after the second shot.

The first shot primes the body, so when you get the second shot, it is prepared to react. Depending on overall health and quality of the imune system, the reaction can be more severe.

    Makes a lot of sense.

My wife and I both got our second Moderna today. We know we still have to use caution but it's still a good feeling to have that part over with.

Just got my first Pfeizer shot this morning. Been about twelve hours now and I only feel sore when I think about it.

I guess after THIS nothing registers anymore. I've had so many shots during and after that I don't even feel them.

    @gnoib - I want a pin! Man - why didn't I get a pin?
