I hear a lot about how remote work is changing the way we do business, but I don't believe it.

You don't need B&M locations to get data into a system.

When you buy from Amazon, your data goes into their system. Easy peasy.

Oh, well I live and work at the same piece of property. Basically, I live where I work. Convenient to get to and from work/home. Inconvenient because the boss (my dad) can show up anytime at my bedroom door if there's a problem to take care of (it's his property).

Well, I still need a "B&M" Social Security office or at least a phone because not all of my transactions with them can be done at their website at this time.

Not so easy peasy with Amazon. Their online business does all of the work, but when Amazon took over Whole Foods, I heard some of their employees were reduced to tears at the heavy workload and duties to perform.

Just because there are certain jobs that might need to be done on site doesn’t mean ALL employees need to work on site. So again, not everyone will be going back to the office. Many will remain working from home. Is there a particular reason you seem to have issue with companies having workers remain working from home?

It depends on the company and what sort of service/product they have. I worked for a major health insurance company 10 years ago that was planning on closing all their US call centers and transferring those calls to the Philippines. Customers had a hissy fit. They constantly complained about not being able to understand the Filipino reps. So they scrapped that whole idea and kept the call centers here.

Well, nobody has claimed that 100% of the population will work from home. Of course we'll still need B&M.

It's definitely growing. When I started working from home 20 years ago, about 30 people at my company also worked from home. Now it's thousands and thousands.

most have now outsourced and not understanding them was a plus to them, as many gave up trying to fight claims

it's like the old vru hell, where companies intentionally made their vru's bad so people would give up

They have to reduce payroll. If not, they go out of business. Either way, jobs are gone.
