I think it is time we start pulling some of the obvious delusional people in for psych evaluation

Given we are trying to get guns out of the hands of people who are psychologically unfit to possess a firearm and make our database restricting sales to mentally disturbed people stronger we have to have our medical professionals evaluate some of the obvious delusional out there.

Clearly there are some people who suffer from paranoid delusions. There are people who think Obama is out to get them and that there is some sort of plot by Brown people or liberals to persecute them when clearly they are just imagining it and getting themselves worked up into psychotic breaks over these delusions. This is a very real form of psychological disorder when ones paranoid fears become delusions they act out upon. These are the people we want to keep guns away from because they are the most likely to snap and have an episode and that gets so much more dangerous when they have firearms.

So when a person shows a disconnect from reality to the point where they are acting upon unsubstantiated fears and delusions we have psychologists diagnose whether or not they need to be institutionalized or whether or not this is the result of curable ignorance or a psychotic delusional state that requires either in or outpatient treatment. Those treatments also come with certain restrictions from owning guns or harassing others based upon their delusions. This is a very real psychological problem for many, and it would seem that certain people on the right are living in an enraged state based on fantastic delusions.

Is it time we start trying to help some of these people who have crossed a line for simply disagreeing with certain ideas to full blown delusional fantasies about persecution and conspiracies that are clearly not going on. Can we allow those who have broken with reality to safely own firearms?

Let's amend your thoughts to add in that anyone who is deemed "delusional" should also be stripped of the right to vote because they clearly can't be counted on to make good decisions about the direction of the country. Be careful, because there are those who believe that "progressive" thought is clearly delusional. I suppose the direction would depend on who is in power and who makes the determination of what constitutes "delusion." To some, I suppose, your post indicates that you are clearly delusional. And therein lies the problem.

 

Waters, and Pelosi come to mind for being at the front of the line.

While the OPer tries to point at conservatives, the fact is that except for the Pulse nightclub, which was called for by a Muslim Iranian Cleric Obama gave a VISA to go to Orlando to tell Muslims to murder LGTBs, who has been targeted in mass shootings has been white people, conservatives, Republicans and Christians.

Overall, the vast majority of mass murderers have been liberals and Democrats.

 

And then there is the leftwing completely buying into the Russia! Russia! Russia! paranoia seeing Russians everywhere, even on this forum.

 

I think it is impossible for the government to monitor the mental health of all its citizens. Most people who are mentally ill are no threat to anyone but themselves. Can we expect the government to monitor all twitter, facebook, message board, et.al, online media looking for people who seem delusional? It's just not a realistic proposition, as well as being something a free society does not do. The obvious solution to these problems of violence is to make sure violent weapons and the materials to manufacture bombs and such be taken out of the hands of private citizens.
