What an intelligent question. I think I just did in an earlier post. I also wished you well. You always ask the best questions.
Are you disputing that we try cases in courtrooms with an opportunity for both sides to present evidence and arguments? And that a jury cannot be impaneled unless we find 12 people with an open mind who understand the presumption of evidence? You see, it is actually you who is demanding that she escape justice because you won't withhold judgment before her trial. We aren't a lynch mob. Most of us, anyway. I suddenly suspect I am trying to teach high school civics to a person who knows no reality other than television (MSNBC, most likely) and the internet.
We are defending the constitution and the presumption of innocence. People like you were burning girls 500 years ago because they looked guilty, couldn't prove their innocence, and because "we doan' need no stinkin' trial." I would defend your right to a fair trial even if the cops caught you in the act of robbing a bank. Under your bent notion of justice, the cops would just take you behind the bank and shoot you. Anyone protesting your execution (like me) would be met with your odd "Why are you defending this bank robber?!?!" Thankfully, you're not in charge of the justice system.
