Immigration: The Great Threat to American Culture

Immigration, both legal and illegal, is destroying our nation! Every time we admit a new person or family, America's unique culture and values go down the toilet. We have Mexicans replacing our traditions with theirs. Not to mention the illegal drugs they're bringing in... Arabs are drastically reshaping our legal system. Muslim Arabs in particular want to replace Western law with their Sharia law (which, by the way, endorses rape and unjust imprisonment of "infidels"). This mass immigration NEEDS to S-T-O-P! We don't have much longer until America completely loses Her defining culture and values. It's time to reclaim America!

 

But what is the American culture? A mixture of cultures from all over the world. Think about it, America the melting pot or so it use to be. First the English came here, 13 colonies, the English adopted a lot of the culture from the local Indian tribes. The French and English along with still the Indian tribes continued to combine cultures. In the south a lot of our culture comes from blacks, our food, music along with the Spanish in Florida and the French in Louisiana. Our southern culture and heritage is a combination of those.

In the Southwest and California, Spanish culture is mixed in with American very heavily. American's were late in coming to that area. You can also throw in the local Indian tribes as the culture there has been adopted and changed. The Indians of the plains and the Northwest has had a lot of influence in the cultures that emerged from there. The northeast has been influenced by Germans, local Indians, Canadian French and all sorts of immigrants from Italy, Sicily, the Irish, from all over. Bits of culture has been added from people all over the world to become our American culture.

Lately the influx of people from Southeast Asia, China and Japanese, have also been integrated into our culture. I like to think that the American culture is made up of the best of every other culture in the world. It is ever changing.

I highly doubt that there are very many original cultures left in the world that haven't been changed, added to, adopted the best of other cultures and discarded a lot of the worst of their original culture. Arabs, middle easterners, all have good things to add. Change is constant. One can not stop it. Our American culture is a world culture with bits and pieces from all over the world. It is time that one recognizes that.

 

Each country is unique to their societies culture and with all of this recent mass immigration to our country, the U.S. is losing its unique culture. Our system had been working for the past couple hundred years so why do people insist on changing it?

 

Immigrants are welcome BUT don't bring the cesspool with them. If it was so great back in the home country, and you miss it and want to make this country like it than go the F back.

 

Our system has been changing for the last couple hundred years so why are people trying to stop cultural change? That is what makes our system so strong. Our Constitution was written by men who understood this. It has been amended 28 times. We have expanded from coast to coast and embraced Hispanic culture as we did so. We accepted the cultural influence of immigrants from China, Italy, Ireland, Germany, Scandinavia and many other places. We eat their foods, own the cars they designed, often worship the faiths they brought with them. America is strong because we continue to accept change and not try to freeze ourselves in time. We are not obligated to accept or reject everything that immigrants bring with them. We should however be willing to have an open mind just as the founding fathers envisioned.

 

Simply claiming other people are responsible for our problems, is no form of solution.

 

Perhaps the greatest threat to "American Culture" is people with your far right perspective.

Lost in your xenophobia is the simple fact that you are the descendant of immigrants. That nearly every damn white person in the nation is a descendent of immigrants. And most of the black people as well since one could consider slavery to be forced immigration.

then there is the seeming lack of faith in the strength of "American culture" to the extent that it could be destroyed so easily and that the laws of the land could be replaced by something as antithetical as sharia.

And just so's ya knows, its not the Mexicans pushing illegal drugs on American culture, its American cultures insatiable appetite for illegal drugs and its stupid drug laws that have created such a mess.

 

Immigration is not a threat to American culture; the absence of assimilation is.

IMMIGRATION WITHOUT ASSIMILATION IS INVASION

 

Myself, I do have a lack of faith in the strength of American culture. It has been weakened by leftist policies: multiculturalism, for instance, which is an explicit repudiation of American culture.

We have to avoid contamination by foreign cultures and rebuild our national immune system, as it were.

 

It's kinda late! Immigration has been going on for a long, long time in America.

Shrug. Things change. A hundred years ago we needed immigrants with strong backs and weak minds.

Nowadays, not so much.

Time to stop the immigration.

 

Still we can save America and restore it to it' past glory if we deport anyone who cannot directly trace his/her lineage to a human being who was here prior to October of 1492.

i would support giving citizenship to immigrants based on two criteria:

1. respect our laws (for example, don't bring drugs here)
2. pay taxes (citizen rights cost money)

be a contributor, not a detractor.

 

What's really stupid here is that all Americans, past-present-future, including the Native American Indians...are immigrants or descendants of immigrants!

I think what you're trying to say, with your xenophobia, is that only certain immigrants should be allowed into the USA and that you should decide the criteria. After all, it's pretty spooky isn't it allowing immigration to 'those' Mexicans and Arabs and surely other people of color and/or race. And...you have not mentioned what you would like to do with 'those' evil people who are already in the USA...round them up, kill them, deport them? Maybe you can create a game show in which you hunt them down and eradicate them...Immigration Survivor...

The real difference is before, people waited and paid to get in. They were so grateful to get here they easily assimilated into American culture, even though many of them kept theirs. That isn't true with most of the Muslims that come here. They don't assimilate into our culture. There religion is the most important thing to them and is counter to what we believe in. Most of these Hispanics who just sneak across, don't assimilate to well either. Their loyalty is still to there home country. They fly their own flag, root for the Hispanic team over an American team playing them. Many have been here for decades and still haven't tried to learn our language. You make it to easy for people, they don't appreciate what they have.

 

You Liberals seem to think we still live back in 1775 or 1890 and we have plenty of room and jobs for anyone who wants to come here. Between the quota we have on immigrants each year, illegals, those going to school here, others brought in to work for corporations, about a million people come here each year and you still want us to throw open our borders to anyone who wants to come. You can only let in as many people as the country can support and we already have over 90 million people that aren't working or gave up even looking for work. The jobs aren't there. The last few years 75%-77% of jobs created are part time, mostly low paying part time jobs. How do we take all these people you want us to take? How do they support themselves? By living on our already over flowing welfare rolls? Also those we let in, we take people from all countries, from all walks of life. That isn't true with illegals and these Muslims.

 

If it weren't for immigration, "American culture" would not exist.

 

Damn there boy you be talking common sense and confusing the extremists again.

 

It usually just takes awhile; three or more generations, in some cases.

 

If we don't try and control immigration like we have for well over a decade, America will wind up being a third world country. If you haven't notice, we are in a war with the industrial world. Who ever comes up with the best widget is going to create the jobs we need to stay ahead. You can't do that by letting in millions of low educated illegals. We already let in nearly a million people a year, yet you Liberals would have us throw open our borders to anyone. Now how smart is that really?
