Our Opponents are getting braver .. as was foretold .. and hey why not .. if Trump can do it on the basis of "unilateral" sanctions -- why not others .. "Do as we say - Not as we Do" breaking down .. as was foretold

    https://newstvusa.com/china-condemns-american-rules-rt-world-news/

That bout sums it up .. Annexation of territory from sovereign nation -- Kosovo - Golan Heights .. come back to bite .. as was foretold .. right here .. not using any crystal ball .. just a little thought to the future consequences .. and a little common sense ..

The raging masses get caught up in the heat of the moment of passion .. no thought to the future consequences .. then .. when bad Vlad "Does as we do" and annexes Crimea .. booo hooo hooo they cry ..

I said to many ... Throw out the rule book .. folks gonna stop following .... NO NO NO they cry .. but but but .. we have good justification for breaking rules .. Sure ya do .. and so do they .. in their minds .. matters not what you think .. they don't care .. there's no longer a rule book ..go piss up rope going to be response .. and what gonna say .. "Do as we say .. Not as we do"?

So it is written .. so it shall be done..

The rule book was tossed out by the US a long, long time ago by American impunity in Cuba, Iran, Vietnam, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Grenada, Syria, Libya, Irak ..... etc. Did the UN stop them or imprison them? Nope. Why? I'll leave that for others to debate but with that fact in mind who can blame Putin or Sung Il Chun, Al Quida, ISIS or Osama bin Laden, for anything they've done or will do in the future?

The rule book is no longer applicable.

International relations is like the real Wild West - in the absence of some unbiased supreme power, the might will always make right. It doesn’t fit in some utopian visions of the world many people hold, but it is what it is. 200 years ago it was privateering, today it’s sanctions. The Greek navy should be free to seize all Iranian ships it can get a hold on in retaliation. What is Iran going to do about it?

Yes Yes but your missing the point ... The world economic Empire could do what it wanted with impunity -- nothing anyone could say or do about it .. had control of the UN .. China was a non issue and so was Russia on the Economic Chessboard.

The US need only whisper its desires in the ear of some nation ... and they would come running to comply - because we were the only game in town .. and everyone wanted to play.

So while the rule book was not applicable to US .. It was to pretty much everyone else. .. Russia Included for the most part.

Times have changed .. we are no longer in the position of economic dominance we were .. hegemony decreasing year after year .. both economic and military .. as the cost of projecting power extremly high .. return on investment very much to the negative.

We have now entered the phase of the cycle where chaos is increased .. "Do as we say - Not as we do" no longer ahered to ... rogue states everywhere ..

next phase is economic appropriation by nations states ..of their own resources .. means of production .. such as we saw in Venezuela . look for this to increase... Turf wars over remaining land available .. Piracy increasing .. just wait until Russia Starts Seizing Ships in retaliation.

Well, I think I understand the point but ......

... not nearly in such detail as that.
I'm looking forward to it. Will I regret saying that?

Let's think about it for a minute. The big boys have been threatening with nuclear bombs but their reluctance in actually using them is a self-proclamation of their civilized, humanitarian concerns. But is that the real reason they haven't bombed the scheiße out of the world? I think not.

So back to the burning question, "What is anyone going to do" if the scheiße hits the fan? Seeing as Iran is centre stage in this little dialogue let's think about it. Iran and its people are highly civilized despite the western PR slander against them but it's that western cuck & bull scheiße that can be Iran's ace up the sleeve. I don't know how far along Iran has come in its nuclear capabilities but the fear (real or contrived) of them makes them a wild card in the pack. So what is Iran going to do about it? Playing the fear factor card is my guess. Maybe a better question is, "What is Greece going to do about an escalation of friction between the two countries if Iran is being touted as a loose cannon w/nuclear savvy?"

Nukes are not much of a factor here. We are not going to nuke Iran -- or some other nation for Piracy .. nor is anyone else.

The US does not project power/maintain hegemony via nukes .. it does so via economic might - and conventional power should economic persuation fail.

Two things have happened which have impacted US hegemony .. 1) our economic might is a shadow of what it used to be in relative comparision 2) the cost of projecting power has increased due to the spread of technology.

So what are we going to do ? Whine and snort for the most part .. try to punish Iraq economically ..

Tell you what we are not going to be doing .. sending warships into Hormuz - as they would quickly find their way to the bottom .. and this would be a huge embarassment to the nation .. and expose how weak and helpless we are .. burning up the "Necessary Illusion" of overwhelming might.

Well, then I don’t agree with that statement - the U.S. almost never had all that influence that you are trying to sell as a historic fact. From WW2 till the 90s the U.S. was involved in numerous wars (China, Vietnam, Korea). There was also the Iran embassy hostage situation. None of that would happen if everyone was jumping when the U.S. was telling them to jump.
The influence that you described is more fitting to the 90’s, and it was pretty obvious to everyone that it was temporary. I remember there was a lot of talk even during that time about rising China. So, your grief about the “good old days” is about something that the U.S. never really had. Only breaking up Russia would bring us back to the good old days.

If you had a clue what the conversation was about .. you might then agree :) Economic hegemony mate .. and no one said "everyone" -- so why would you make such a moronic claim on my behalf ..

I do .. you are saying that nuke would be a game changer for Iran .. which is true .. "For Iran" and puts it in the nuclear club .. .. but am not talking about folks in the nuclear club .. who you can't attack - for fear of nuclear retaliation. This is about the nations one can attack .. in general .. who you now have to think twice about attacking because of modern conventional technology.

The cost projecting power has increased is the upshot here .. to the point where the nation who tries to maintain hegemony will bankrupt itself - This is the lesson of History .. played out numerous times .. be it Rome .. or the last 3 world economic empires .. Spanish Dutch - British.

Well, the “moronic claim” came from your side:
And now you are backtracking from it by accusing others of making moronic claims.

Maybe Greece should give back the oil they stole from Iran - which by the way, was done on the orders from Washington.

There are 17 more Greek tankers in the Gulf which Iran said it could confiscate - or better yet, they now said they could confiscate one ship a month. I was wondering if Russia had anything to do with this and what would be its benefit since their own oil is shipped by Greek tankers?

Russia did say they were going to punish Greece for the arms Mitsotakis sent to Ukraine to kill Russians - not to mention other provocations. It's a problem in many ways for the Greek people who historically have been close to Russia. Even during the mega fires that were burning a few months back, it was Russia and the sacrifices of its pilots that stopped the fires from reaching Athens. Lots of gratitude by Mitsotakis.

The only satisfaction Russia could have in Iran confiscating Greek tankers, is that it would force them to sail under other flags - and that would cost Greece a pretty penny. Who knows, maybe even under the Russian flag? That would be funny.

What moronic claim .. ? What you talking about mate .. coded nonsense from the peanut gallery .. if you are going to accuse someone of saying something moronic .. then state what it is .. and quit making stuff up and attributing to others .. your post is fallacyland from start to finish ..combined with projection.

Is it not moronic to put words in the mouth of others .. Is it not moronic to make broad generalizations and/or speak in absolutes .. such as "Everyone"

Who is the one engaging in moronic diatribe .. the mirror awaits :)

Excellent points .. and never mind Iran for a moment .. Russia could soon be confiscating Tankers ..Yachts ts .. or any other nation with a gripe with another .. That's what happens when you throw out the Rule book - Eventually nations stop following the rules.

Life was good so long as "Do as we say Not as We do" - was observed by others ... but then came the day ..when they started to do as we do .. and life was not so good .. the consequences of rash heat of the moment actions .. coming back to bite.

I don't agree with piracy on the high sea maytee .. better go back and read .. to see what was agreed - focus in on consequences .. and prophecy that was laid before you .. eyes blind to see what was told to thee .. now back to the first tee .. until we can agree :)
