I would say yes, he can't run for governor again and after that lackluster presidential campaign he ran, no big money donors will give him any money anymore after blowing 150 million dollars?!!

And not a damn thing to show for it either?!! I guess America will never be like Florida after all?!!

While Republican voters in New Hampshire head to the polls to choose between Donald Trump, R-The Literal Worst, and Nikki Haley, R-Meh, Ron DeSantis is heading home to Florida to feel deeply embarrassed.

That’s exactly what the governor – an unlikable bully from the jump – deserves after ending one of the most laughably inept presidential runs in history.

DeSantis bowed out of the GOP presidential primary race Sunday, and I can merrily say with 1,000% confidence he will never, ever, ever be president of the United States. His national reputation is garbage.

His awkward smile, incessant lip-licking and robotic behavior have been mercilessly mocked in a multitude of memes. And his clumsily cruel battle against “wokeness” was revealed as a cynical ploy, an effort to climb to the presidential nomination on the backs of vulnerable kids and thoughtful school teachers.

Let’s check the scoreboard: Wokeness 1, DeSantis 0.

It couldn’t have happened to a bigger jerk.

What, you want me to take the high road? With this guy?

The guy who has made life hell for LGBTQ+ kids in the state he governs? The guy who bent over backwards to make sure his state’s schools are teaching the most white-centric version of American history possible?

The guy whose anti-vaccine rhetoric and faux-tough-guy opportunism with COVID-19 policies likely cost thousands of Floridians their lives?

The guy who snarled at school kids who stood behind him at an event during the pandemic because they were responsibly wearing face masks?

The guy who took an excellent state liberal-arts university, New College, and handed it over to a bunch of right-wing goons so they could make it less diverse, less inclusive and more conservative?

How Haley can beat Trump:With DeSantis gone, 5 ways Haley can hit Trump hard in New Hampshire

The guy who ridiculously picked a fight with Disney – one of Florida’s largest employers – because the company had the temerity to speak out against his useless and draconian “Don’t Say Gay” law? (If the folks at Disney had a sense of humor, they’d immediately announce a new Pixar film titled “LOL!”)

The guy who helped elevate a rabid right-wing group like Moms for Liberty and bolstered ridiculous parents who decided getting books banned and disrupting school board meetings was a fun hobby?

I think it is too soon to write his obituary. He might have the personality of a dead fish, but he also has ambition, and lots of it. He is now back to where he was before starting his campaign, 100% backing MAGA. If he is nice to Trump, he even won't be called DeSanctimonious or Meatball Ron anymore. Of course, he has to be willing to take being publicly degraded by Trump, while taking it with a smile. The only thing he now has to do is wait. In 2028 most MAGAs will have long forgotten about his lackluster 2024 campaign.

DeSanctimonious choked like a doge. His wife's ambitions met ETTD.

He's been a fine governor. I still remember the day that he came to our town of 8000 after hurricane Ian in September of 22.

The Peace River saw a height of 24 ft which was unprecedented in history ever since people have been keeping track of how high the river gets.... So roughly the time of the civil war

Consequently there were many people stranded out in the county by flood waters and the only way they had to come and go was by boat.

He was giving a press conference and people told him how they could not get gas for their generators. Some of y'all may remember that I work nights at a gas station. Now my boss has owned the store for over 40 years or at least everything in it.... He still rents from the oil company the building.

My boss told me that the governor himself called the oil company and said you make sure that those people in DeSoto county have gas. And lo and behold the very next day we had gas.

I don't believe a Democratic governor would have bothered to even show up here much less call an oil company on behalf of the citizens.

And by the way that cute little meme? You know the one with DeSantis in the white rubber boots?

That photograph was taken right here in my county when DeSantis was meeting with our sheriff and citizens.

That's actual action and the man has a very accomplished resume.

Our current VP was one of the lowest polling democrats in the race, but he she is. Never say never. Desantis may run for the Senate if he doesn't get picked to be something by Trump

Yes. He will never be potus. The entire country got to watch that cuck wearing high heel boots choke on an epic level and immediately bow down to his mango king after being taken to the wood shed.

I think 2024 is going to be the end of the political career of all MAGAs. After Trump loses in November, I have a feeling 2025 is going to be the year in which conservatives take back their party. It's going to be painful. But they will HAVE to rip off that Band-Aid or they're not going to win any more elections.

You'd think that a Dem Governor wouldn't show up after a hurricane, because you've been taught by RW media that Dems are the devil.

Yet, Biden showed up after Ian, and, apparently, he and DeSantis worked well together to get federal aid to Florida.

So, are you willing to give Biden as much credit as DeSantis?

He is still young, so he can run for Senate (by bumping Rubio or Scott out), or in the House or in a Trump admin if Trump wins. He could have a position like UN ambassador, or secretary of transportation or something. The key would be to keep the career path alive. Otherwise his governor term ends and he disappears.

Right. Its routine for any governor to show up after hurricanes for a photo op, and getting gasoline and electric flowing is always top priority, so I'm not sure why the other poster thinks DeSantis invented the idea.

DeSantis probably looked into his "long-range scanner" and decided that 2024 is a lost cause for ALL Republicans running for the presidency. You don't need to be a 'Nostradamus' to predict that, barring a miracle, Trump is going to be the Republican nominee, and, that as such, he's going to lose this year's election. Being a realist, DeSantis decided that he didn't want to be a part of that Trump trainwreck, so, he's left the race and 'kept his powder dry'.

In the presidential election of 2028, Ron DeSantis will be exactly 50 years old -- a "perfect" age for a candidate with higher-level experience in running a large, complex government to ascend into the presidency. You haven't seen the last of him....

I'm talking about showing up in a small rural town.

I'm not terribly satisfied with the federal response. One of my neighbors had their house destroyed by one of the random tornadoes that tend to spawn during hurricanes. It took them almost a full year to get a FEMA trailer.

Out in the county there are still tons of FEMA trailers and campers that are sitting parked out in a pasture almost 3 years later. Brand new trailers and campers, just sitting there in a field going to waste.... Hundreds of them.

You haven't noticed that gas shortages can last for days in the aftermath? The very next morning that went away.

Sometimes there is a shortage, and sometimes there isn't. It's not like a governor is the only person who is capable of ordering more gas to a gas station. I thought you said you worked at a gas station. Maybe you should know better.

Yes of course. Before I got my job they sent me to University and taught me all about gas production and distribution....

I never claimed that the governor is the only one that can direct a gas shipment. Maybe you should just make up some more things and pretend that I said them?

But yes, the hourly help is deeply involved in the production and distribution logistics of gasoline....

DeSantis is a much better governor than he is a debater and campaigner. He is an example of what is wrong with the elective process today. People are too much into pretty faces and beauty contests and not into asking the fundamental question, "Can he or she do the the job well?" The Democrats are hopelessly mired in identity politics to answer that question with any type of objectivity.

DeSantis has a future, perhaps as a Senator. The presidency is tough pull. At least he got out without doing too much damage to himself. Sadly, no person or thing, except the courts, can prevent Trump from getting the Republican nomination this year.

That's what I said, but he'd have to challenge Rubio or Scott. Rubio is a decent and well liked Senator but Scott is an ass, so DeSantis might be able to bump him in orfder to get in.

DeSantis is young. I was thinking more about when one of them retires. Rubio almost did before his most recent term.

Rubio is 52, so he won't retire another 30 years.

Rick Scott is 71, so he'll probably retire in about 15 yrs.

I doubt DeSantis will wait that long.

Florida Attorney General seat will open in 2027, so even that is too long.

Yes, we know. You are into fools like, Andrew Gillum, who got caught high on drugs in a motel room with a male prostitute. But for a few thousand votes, we would have been caught with him for governor for the love of identity politics.

He's Black! What other qualification does he need? Now we know he's gay. That's even better!

    Such is Democrat logic.
