"There is more in heaven and Earth, Horatio, than is dreamt of in your dubious appraisal anecdote."

I.E., Can't you find something new to complain about?

Please tell me you have some other reason to be mad at the world, or I'll lose interest in reading your repetitive posts.

All I want for Christmas is another anecdote about race-based appraisal disparities.

MORE RACISM FROM FOLKS ON THE LEFT SIDE

    RACIST LITTLE FREE LIBRARIES:
She immediately greeted them with irrational hatred based on their skin color.
Actually it's our little racist Lefty here that is the worst.

We need to remind librarians to judge people by the content of their character, not by the color of their skin.

I'm guessing the op did not like these examples, judging by his lack of reply, these were evidently not the sort of examples he was looking for.

I think you just misgendered the OP. That's dang near a hanging offense on the Left.

Yes I had an anecdote and a citation of a study that backs that up that you refused to read apparently, closed minded hyper-partisanship isn't healthy.
    Here it is again....https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...gap-in-home-appraisals-has-doubled-since-1980
This has nothing to do with this thread, but you must feel strongly about it. Owning a racist Black lady feels good? Well, who's to say if she is a leftist, she might be a church lady, but the author is certainly left with his runaway hyperbolic nonsense; "they were transgressing on black space, once again pushing black people to the margins, appropriating black expression, and gentrifying the black neighborhood". She was probably just thinking those books are for my neighbors and they ain't my neighbors.
I like that judge people by the content....ending, means you're not a racist.
I answered that back in post #11....but I can copy and paste
Right-wingers like to "redefine systemic racism as attempts at giving equity to a race that has not been given equal access for the last one hundred (and fifty)years since Emancipation. In other words you feel that an entire group of people who had rights taken away, were prevented from accumulating wealth through no fault of their own are not deserving in any help in catching up because that would be racist."

So you have no problem with the government denying loans or granting them based on skin color.

And you have no problem with the government forcing someone to hire someone based on skin color even though someone else who was more qualified for the position was turned down in favor of filling a quota?

It's the very definition of systemic racism.

But like I said these are not the examples you were looking for.

    Fake News. It's actual racism.
Rebuking a racist is it's own reward. Unlike you I'm not fixated on her melanin and gonad status.
We all know that she is. This kind of mental garbage is systemic, yeah, even institutional on the Left.
Yup. That's the racist brain rot the Left is becoming known for. Real shame that the sensible folks within the Left don't have the speaking and leadership positions.
We aren't defining anything, we simply point out that that your claims are unsubstantiated.

The movement makes an absurd unsupported claim:

    i) All outcomes where Blacks lag are due to systemic racism. Then, rather that showing a pattern of actual racism, they instead show any statistical data point where Blacks have poorer outcomes and claim this proves racism, when it does nothing of the sort. Unless every other possible answer is identified and excluded all they are offering is an unsubstantiated assumption, further, that they can't make the case based on actual racism speaks very well of the great deal of work we have done as a society.
If you know of any institution that is denying access to folks over their skin color, file suit and strip them of their assets. Such racism has been illegal in the US for most of the lifetimes of every living American.
We as a society work to help those that are struggling from one end of our society to the other.

Can we do better? Yes, and right now, I'll tell you how: The Federal poverty level (FPL) is $26,500 for a family of 4. Give them $26,501/yr and you have taken them out of poverty

We could send cash payments to every American equal to one dollar more than the FPL, virtually eliminating all US poverty, in exchange for ending all other safety social safety net spending (except for Social Security, leave that as is) and come out money ahead.

The Right has offered this solution to the Left periodically over the last 40-50 years since Milton Friedman first famously calculated this and made the offer. It's never been accepted.

    We should do it.

That's BS, Edna. An appraisal is mathematical, and the 'software' doesn't know or care about the people involved.

Even when a professional appraiser does the appraisal in person, they are contracted by the home owner or lending institution .. and so have no skin in any kind of weird underselling game.

I actually find this part more humorous than anything else:

The study’s authors wrote that they hadn’t identified a root cause for these gaps, but that they are testing alternative appraisal methods for more equitable outcomes.

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...s-widespread-racial-disparities-in-appraisals

In other words, they were unable to conclude that is was systemic racism, as obvious as it seems to our angry OP. Reminds me of that old Pep Boys advertisement:

"Is that the right size battery for my car? doesn't seem to fit!" (Racism doesn't see most likely explanation.)

"Don't worry, we'll make it fit!" (We'll call it racism whether it is or isn't.)

How do you feel about the free rider problem?

    https://www.investopedia.com/terms/f/free_rider_problem.asp

There is something unhealthy about "money for nothin' and your chicks fo' free." Cave men would have driven such parasites out of the clan at the point of a spear, and I can't see how they would have been wrong in that.

The very best thing that a society can do for all historically disadvantaged people (whether descended from slaves, or as migrants who personally experienced trauma), is to remain entirely impartial. Provide the tools for success - free education and healthcare - and ensure it's accessible for all. Those who are determined to throw off the shadows of the past will use those tools to their advantage. The help you want is those tools, plus laws which prevent any further racial discrimination or inequality.

Exactly. Because carrying those members of the clan reduce the clan's ability to care for those who genuinely need caring, and because every free decreases the clan's ability to survive.

This is not the first time there has been a thread about systemic or institutional racism. But they are all based on the same thing, as @Zorro pointed out; they based their claims on statistical racial disparities, not on any particular racist policy of any particular institution. Racial disparity is real, you can run the data on any number of indices that show that, but for some reason, instead of wanting to analyze and confront the actual problems, they prefer a made up boogie man that puts the blame on the "system." As long as this particular myth has power, those racial disparities will remain.

So which Peter do you plan to Rob to pay Paul?

The Peters alive today who had nothing to do with that?

You know everything like you're talking about would come at a cost to someone else right?

And never a mention of the racial disparity in wealth/education between the non-white Americans at the top, and everyone else. No one is accusing those non-white achievers of racism. Most of us implicitely understand that that particular group (let's call them 'Asians') are where they are because they work harder. If we can acknowledge that - then the lies told about why others fail are even more glaringly exposed.

The more successful a non white minority is, the more likely they will be called "white adjacent" and no longer considered a non white minority.

I don't know that every non-Asian who worked as much and as hard as the average Asian would fare as well as the average Asian -- Charles Murray has suggested that they and Ashkenazi Jews are, on average, smarter than the average bear -- but they would sure be giving themselves a leg up on everyone else if they worked as hard as Asians.

It's about that lie-exposing, probably more so than about anything else. An easy way to identify a 'white supremacist' who doesn't want black Americans to succeed, is to tell them a story about brown skinned migrants building good lives in America. If you can use African migrants as your example, even better. Their disgust at both the story, and you for telling it, reveals their motives. They will come up with a thousand ways to convince you of why 'that's different', so determined are they to protect the modern mechanisms of black oppression.

Any genetic component is insignificant, at best. An Asian is just as capable of failure via not working, as anyone else.

accumulating wealth from the past doesn't effect your accumulating wealth in the future. Your life's choices dictate your worth. My grandmother fled Germany with nothing but a suitcase during WW2. She is wealthy as ****. My wife's entire family fled Vietnam with nothing but what they could carry and now they are wealthy as ****. Accumulating wealth or starting from scratch doesn't mean jack **** in the real world.

    Sorry.

There is no systemic racism. If there was then it sucks because there are far too many examples of successful black people in the United States.

You are chasing a boogey man to explain your failure.

The worrisome question for me is, what percentage of the black population shares the view that systemic racism explains whatever failures they have experienced? (As has been noted, there is a conspicuous number of black Americans who have somehow managed to succeed, sometimes spectacularly.)

If most blacks feel this way, we are in for interesting times. I personally won't lift a finger to address this appraisal disparity, which I am happy to concede exists; but as the authors of the study themselves indicate, they don't know what the root cause is. Or at least they say they don't, LOL.

If you want to see everything, including appraisal disparities, through the prism of race, have at it.
