The word "unlawful" most definitely equates with the word "illegal".....of course that depends on what the meaning of is is. Doesn't it seem reasonable in your mind that something done illegally would be considered a crime? Perhaps you have it confused with the word "felony"?

Unlawful presence has to do with being here, not crossing the border illegally.

Countries have laws, whether we agree with all of them or not, and maybe some might feel certain laws are missing or need scrapped.

Laws come about because of something. So when people murdered others, a law came out to say it's illegal to kill someone. So if you break the law, it's illegal and you are classed as a criminal.

So does the USA have immigration laws? So if you follow the law, use a port of entry, abide by the immigration laws, you are a legal immigrant. If you disregard the law, break into the USA, then you broke the law, it's illegal. Is robbing a bank illegal? Is looting a shop illegal? So whatever activity you slap on it, if you don't follow the law, your action was illegal.

Those immigrating illegally do so to seek a better life, luxury, as opposed to fleeing war and persecution. If you were fleeing a war and persecution, then objective achieved once you reached the first safe country.

(I use the word you but it's not directed at JohnHamilton, it's used towards people in general)

Crossing the border illegally is a misdemeanor. It's difficult to prove if they are not caught in the act. It's like reckless driving, once you've gone home and parked and there's no record of your speeding, then you are a) not illegal and b) unlikely to be prosecuted.

And, according to the Constitution, someone being prosecuted for crossing the border could rightfully demand a jury trial. Imagine if they all started to do that...

I am not confused at all. It is considered a civil violation, not a criminal one. The penalty is deportation. Perhaps it's that you are so emotionally invested in the sophistry around immigration that you cannot be bothered with dry facts.

Uh, the Federal law. Section 212(a)(9)(B)(ii) of the Immigration & Naturalization Act.

    It's not a secret.

I'm not emotionally vested....just deport them like you say. They are not here legally. They are illegal. It all depends on what the meaning of is is-Bill Clinton.

I didn’t say it was a secret, lol. Of course, I should have know. It was section 212, clause a, subsection 9, Subsubsection b clause I.

Thanks for the reference, but not so much the snark.

and how they keep trying to force their ways upon the rest of us. lol

Nice excuse for open borders! Tell Me, can deport convicted criminals and terrorists be deported, or are they okay because coming here is only a “misdemeanor?”

When I came to Arizona in the early 70's, I witnessed ICE rounding up illegals for deportation several times. Eisenhauer actually deported many in the fifties in what was called "Operation Wetback". It could and should be done again or our rule of law is a "laughing stock"!

Those who are citizens of foreign countries are legitimately recognized as "alien" (foreign nationals). When they enter the United States in a way that is not in accordance with U. S. law, such entry is illegal. Thus, "illegal alien".

    C'mon, throw me a hard ball...! ;)

I have neighbors who has sign No one is “illegal". I live by a big university with lot a students and university staff , who has all these sign , BLM , Human rights etc.

The concept is this – every human is precious and worth saving ( the core belief system of Pro-life) regardless of where they were born or came from. They may be undocumented but they’re not “illegal”. Drugs are illegal, guns are illegal, but no human is illegal.

The party of pro-life, they care about frozen embryo, they care about fetus in womb, but a six month old child travel thousands miles with a his/her single mother is illegal who taking away all the wealth ( US consider the wealthy nation on the face of the earth) , and leaving all American citizen hungry.

I have church member, who stand in the church and tears come down their chick when they talk about “unborn babies’, but these same church member, if they get a chance they will chase down undocumented immigrants with guns. These are bunch of hypocrites and racist.

Well, Endeavor, the central issue isn't about 'frozen embryos', a 'fetus in a womb', or whether not life is 'precious', per se.

It's about the right of any nation to establish laws, rules, and regulations by which it and its affairs are controlled and governed. In the United States, we have processes for legal immigration, and we have processes for temporary foreign workers, and, processes for those who LEGITIMATELY qualify for asylum, and, who apply for asylum LEGITIMATELY....

As long as those laws are followed, as written, everything's fine, and, LEGITIMATE. But, when foreigners just come barging across the border and enter the United States ILLEGITIMATELY, then it's NOT fine -- and these illegal invaders should be sent back to wherever the hell they came from before they crossed our border! Do you 'get' that...? :flagus:

What I GET that more and more Americans has completely different view than yours. I don’t give a S$$$ what’s on the law book. In democracy we abolish past law and create new law to reflect the society we live in. In today’s society we don’t want another human regardless where they come from be identified as “illegal;”

Majority Americans have favorable view toward these undocumented immigrants. Past 40 years Democrats have been fighting for comprehensive immigration reform to give these undocumented immigrants legal status and past 40 years majority Americans are voting for Democrats. Gerrymandering and a age old racist policy call “ electoral college” was keeping conservative like you in power. But demography is changing so significantly in past 20 years that even with Gerrymandering and “ electoral college”, republican will be powerless forever by 2032. Bye, bye to all the racist conservative policy. DO YOU GET THAT or you are too naïve to do the math!

You explain yourself eloquently in your single sentence: "I don’t give a S$$$ what’s on the law book." Thank you... your honesty is refreshing! Because you don't give **** what the law says, you align yourself with those who refuse to comply with the laws of the United States of America. Clearly understood!

Therefore, in regard to this illegal migration issue, you are the ENEMY -- a candid, resolute, truthful enemy -- but, an ENEMY of our laws. Believe it or not, I can respect you in your view on this topic much more than many of those in your faction -- many of whom are liars, hypocrites, and devious, radical, America-hating slime bags. I salute you, now, as I have more than one of my old enemies, even though I will toil and labor against you over the issue of illegal migration as long as I have breath in my body.... NOW, I think it's fair to say that we both 'get' each other! Cheers! :sun:

Sorry. Folks that break the law entering the USA illegally... are ILLEGALS. Spin in all you want.
Every human being being is precious and worth saving. They should get a good job and save THEMSELVES.

My college roommate was raised in a urine smelling tenement in Spanish Harlem with no dad around... mom a seamstress. He's an MD now. He made it work

Self pitying "victims" do vex me.

The country you claim to love so much, you should study more about that country. Just because “ I don’t give a S$$$ what’s on the law book” doesn’t make me “ enemy of the law”. There were time when the law said “ A black man was a three fifths of a person”. There were laws on the book said “Marriages between whites with "Black People, Indians" were declared illegal and void.” I can go on and one and list all the “laws we had on the book.

Conservative hid behind laws. The entire immigration law in US is obsolete and it needs change to reflect 21st century.

You can fight all you want, but clock is ticking . TikTok TikTok.. 8-10 years conservatism will be dead and hung in museum.

Let every muncher come into the country and live off the hard work of those who produce. Let every criminal come into the country and commit more crimes. Let every terrorist into the country to comment more terrorist acts. To hell with the citizens who obey the law.

All you can is oppose this point of view. It’d obvious there is no room for compromise. You don’t debate; you just shout.

No terrorist came in to the country from southern border. The terrorist who blew up twin tower, their families were flown back to Saudi Arabia by Republican President day after 9/11 when all the commercial plans were grounded in US Airspace., So let’s stop all the BS the terrorist are illegal immigrants.

This is trick the left plays. They go back to every mistake that the founding fathers made. Yet they never look at the issue in the context of the history of the time. They can never point to a country that got or gets it right in their eyes, but they know that The United States is always wrong.

I’ve heard this crap since I was in undergraduate school in the late 1960s. Those guys thought that Castro’s Cuba and Mao’s China were the perfect models. Che Guevara was a “great man” despite the face that he failed at everything and hated gay people.

When we graduated, got jobs and raised families, they stayed in academia and poisoned the well with their communist take on the world. Now you see the result.
