The Russians are winning the war because they are never going to quit. Putin doesn't care how many Russian soldiers he kills unless there a backlash on him from the public. The Russians who oppose him are in prison, exiled or going to remain quiet. I think that vast majority of Russians support him because they are uber nationalists. They want to see their country as a world power again and see no way of achieving that other than war. They don't understand economics because they have never had a free economic system.

I don't have much faith in the Russian people. Their history as been that of Tsars and dictators, and they don't seem to want to change. The last Tsar, Nicholas II, was looked down upon because he was "a weak autocrat." That pretty well sums it up. Nicholas was bad because he didn't put the hammer down. The main Russian who posts here is a great admirer of Stalin and the Bolsheviks. Once more, that pretty well sums it up.

The Russians are holding a defensive line (The Surovikin Line) to protect Donetsk, Mariupol Etc.

If the Russian forces had intended to attack Western Europe as some oddballs claim, they
would not have spent time and materials building a defensive line to defend the Russian
speaking population east of the line.

......and I think it is time we had discussions on a detailed, public U.S. objective with options. We need complete accountability.

There is complete accountability to Raytheon, Lockheed Martin and the other entities that matter.
The US public doesn't matter, just tell them a lie and they believe it.

Ukraine has had a massive amount of US weapons, and the pockets of the US taxpayer are not bottomless.

The plug is being pulled and Ukraine needs to negotiate.

1 Billion dollars is nothing compared with what Ukraine has been receiving to date.

Russia does not want any of the Ukrainian speaking areas, so the dividing line is pretty obvious.

Relative to what? Somebody said the U.S. hadn't lost anything and I posted that it had lost money. How much more simple could I make it.

US is not fighting in Ukraine, so its a weird question.

    BUT.......BIDEN.....HUNTER......BORDER....TWITTER......LAPTOP

Reagan would disagree. He tripled the debt in order to outspend USSR, and it worked.

That is basically true, very true.

But there's a possible ambiguity - as usual the US weapons makers (aka defense industry) is winning but the public is losing.
