I have noticed a lot of what I have read so far to be mostly Trump bashing. Maybe I have just chosen the wrong threads.

Is this forum more-or-less balanced between left and right?

I don't think it's that imbalanced, but I do think anti-Trumpers seem to be hysterics and tend to create similar threads over and over and over. So the threads are very unbalanced.

There is Trump bashing because there is no person alive today who has done more "bashable" things than Trump.

A lot of posters went MIA after Nov 3.
I don't know if they went to Parler or similar, but a lot of trump supporters have disappeared. Except for the few claiming fraud.

I think that actually there are more right wingers than left wingers, here. Maybe the left wingers are more active now, still gloating with Biden's victory, while the right wingers are dismayed and more silent, given Trump's loss.

I'm a centrist but I'm currently anti-Trump and I did vote for Biden. I say currently because I did consider voting for him, and I do recognize some of the good aspects of Trump (e.g., Warp Speed Initiative; standing up to China, being against illegal immigration) but I also have many aspects of him that I profoundly dislike (his attempts to minimize the pandemic setting a bad example and politicizing masks, attacking Democracy with bogus claims of widespread fraud and engaging in active attempts to overturn the people's will), so, anyway, being a centrist, I get attacked by BOTH the left and the right, LOL.

I don't have the thickest of skins... I tend to not suffer fools lightly... so I've been placing a lot of people on Ignore, which makes the board look very sparsely populated...

At one point I may restore everybody and wipe out my Ignore list... but for now, certain opinions here frustrate me enough that I just move people to Ignore.

In any case, welcome. I hope you'll have fun, here. Certainly there are people of all sorts of ideological positions so you'll find those who think like you.

Calling fellow posters here, hysterics, is not very civil... people might counter-attack and say that the pro-Trumpers here are delusional (given the bogus claims of widespread fraud). Best is to not say one or the other, and simply say that people have different opinions on what is best for the country.

The liberals here post more threads but it's us usually the few people repeating the same thing over and over.

Some of them need to go over to democratic underground or a similar place where they can wallow in their Trump hate all day and night.

Surprisingly the non political forums stay pretty much politics free.

Personally I enjoy the creativity of the scapegoating here. All the country’s problems can be reduced to “leftists”: reduce, expand, repeat. A joyous exercise in conspiracy building to ward off the mundane.

Most? I don't see most of us running. The Democrats started a war. We are in the trenches now fighting to save and protect America from the evil within the Democratic party. The day we stop fighting we lose forever.

I'm a lifelong Republican but chose not to vote for Mitt Romney. Voted for Trump to keep Hillary out of office and then 4 years of the left constantly attacking us deplorables and the impeachment sham pushed me far to the right.

I'm hoping Candace Owens runs in 2024. She would be my dream president. Intelligent, well spoken and very strong against the left who try to bring her down all the time. She used to dislike Trump publicly but she red pilled after her own party attacked her and went crazy after 2016. That would be the Democrats.

LOL, you must have forums confused. Care to name a few? 3 prominent posters will suffice.

All polls I've seen indicate a roughly 2/3 right leaning and 1/3 left leaning population of the forum.

Tho it does seem that most of the right leaning take more of an observational roll...

To Perianne. There is a balance, though there are a lot at the two extremes. Based on the image of society I get from the mainstream media, I would say more holding extremist right views but, gauged by the election, PF may be quite a well-balanced (so to speak) representation of viewpoints. For you, antipathy towards Trump may strike your ears rather harshly, yet that sentiment is commonplace, even ubiquitous in some areas, throughout the country. For me, the emboldened comments by the other poster I quoted, undertheice, strike my ears as insultingly out of place, demonstrating the inability to disagree with others in a civil, respectful manner. This happens fron both sides, though I've seen it more frequently from the right (or maybe it's just the threads I've chosen?). Let me hasten to clarify that I don't believe all conservatives, by any means, are rude. That would be to practice the very prejudicial view which I find so objectionable, & which is an intrinsic flaw in any argument, bound to lead it astray.

But perhaps my expectation of a debate forum (this is my 1st) is as biased by my views as your impression of Trump-bashing is influenced by yours. Yes, that definitely goes on a good bit but, while I certainly have criticisms of our President, I don't generally participate in gratuitous insulting. Though I may find it more tolerable than you, nevertheless, when a post is over-the-top in its bias, even if it takes my side in the debate, I am uncomfortable with it.

You will have to decide for yourself where you fit in, but the odds are good you will find that place here. Thanks, undertheice, for letting me use your post as an example. No offense intended.

No, it's balanced in that anyone can post (within the general rules) regardless of their political opinions. Seeing lots of posts leaning a particular way on a particular topic (or even in general) doesn't necessarily mean the forum is unbalanced, it could just mean that more people hold (and want to express) that opinion.

    There is validity to that.

It is NOT the membership that gives a forum balance between left and right.

It is the MODERATION that achieves the balance between left and right.

Forums rely upon volunteers to administer the moderation because there simply is not sufficient income to pay for professional moderators.

That said the volunteer moderators on this forum do make an effort to achieve a good balance between left and right.

It makes no difference which side of the political aisle you are on if you post your positions in a respectful manner that fosters civil discourse. Equally it will make no difference which side you are on if you violate the clearly established Rules of this forum.

In essence it is up to YOU to accept the balance that the rules and the moderators are here to uphold. If you can post within the rules you will discover that the membership ranges across the political spectrum where the majority post within the Rules of the forum itself.

You'll soon note that there's a couple people (ONE in particular) who start at least 5 threads a day of "orange man bad". Stay tuned, as no doubt after January 20 the same culprits will be threading 5 times a day "senile man good"! Is what it is.

After the 2016 election, it was a lot of Trump supporters gloating on here, and a few liberals slinked away. Now, it is the other way around.
