Is this turning into a gay forum?

There are six threads about gays on the front page and only one is in the gay rights section. Now granted gayness is a hot topic right now (pun intended)... but could the mods possibly combine multiple gay marriage threads or at the very least, move them to the proper section?

Geesh, if not for gays and Zimmerman, gotta wonder if there'd be anything left to discuss here?

How dare you suggest such a thing. Traditional thread merges have always been about one "gay marriage" thread and one "Obama attacking Catholics" thread. Merging two gay marriage threads or (ugh) multiple threads is simply disgusting and clearly against the sacred teachings of the great Berners-Lee. It's a slippery slope I tell you - you'll be suggesting merging threads with PDF documents or spreadsheets next!

 

Yes, there's a "Gay and Lesbian Rights" subforum where those topics should be merged and combined into one thread. Just like with what happened with the interracial crime threads.

You wouldn't want to appear as inconsistent, would you?

 

1/2 of those threads were created by non-libs.

 

Perhaps the racist crime threads are more to your liking? Plenty of those on this forum.

 

The internet would implode, smoke would pour out of our computers and FOX news and MSNBC would start a fight in the streets amongst their most popular broadcasters.
But alas, we would not be able to post about it, as the internet would be deceased.

My sentiments exactly! It's really overkill on both topics ...... I swear some here must sit up all night thinking of the Z/M case and really believing they know exactly what had happened.......

Your signature is nonsense, and it shows a clear lack of understanding of how politics in this country works. Identity politics are incredibly important, unsurprisingly. Republicans "harvest" rural and southern white voters. They tell them they are "real Americans" and the best this country has to offer. Then those people begin to believe it is true, and start threads about the dangers of multiculturalism, immigrations, etc. If you pollute the population of "real Americans" with immigrants and minorities, what would happen? Then alternatively, Democrats tell those same people they are bigoted, ignorant, uneducated hillbillies. Under those circumstances, why would any people among that group every vote for a Democrat? They tell them they are scum, Republicans tell them they are the best American has to offer. It then becomes completely irrelevant to those people that Republicans could not possibly represent their interests any less, because they present an image of themselves and of white rural/southern Americans, white rural/southern Americans want presented.

It is the EXACT SAME process for minorities. Republicans tell them they are lazy, shiftless, criminals who are destroying America. While Democrats tell them they are good people, who the system creates barriers to success. The fact that Democrats couldn't represent their interests any less, and that elite Democratic politicians help create the barriers they describe, again becomes completely irrelevant!! Identity politics is just a way of dividing and differentiating the electorate, so that they stop voting based on where their actual economic and political interests lie, and instead just vote for the candidate whose performance best represents their ideal notion of America and who flatters them personally and as a collective.

You have fallen into the trap of believing this is a Democratic thing. It isn't. It is something both parties do to harvest votes, and Republicans harvest your group of people quite effectively. The lesson is to not let identity politics completely define our political landscape, not that all liberals are racist(which is of course idiotic nonsense).
