    You could be right, I haven't followed the politics in that area for some time. With Russia, I doubt they get involved. They have enough on their plates. They were not able to help Armenia against Azerbaijan either, who would have been much closer to Russia than Hamas.

    From the public comments on a BBC video report, it appears that the Palestinian army is getting alot of supportive comments, more so than for the Israeli army.

    You won't find anybody here outright supporting the Palestinian militants though even if they are against the Israeli "occupation"

    So far 150 Israelis murdered... 1200 wounded.
    That is so sad.
    Open the Egyptian border from Gaza and give Gazans 24 hours to go there...
    Than crush Gaza.
    Only that will change the situation.

    Hezbollah supports Hamas amid Israeli assault, but 'assesses' situation for now
    Lebanon
    07 October, 2023

    'Hezbollah issued a statement of support for Hamas's operation in southern Israel, but stopped short of saying it would contribute to the fighting.'

    snip:

    'Lebanese pro-Iran militia Hezbollah congratulated Palestinian group Hamas on its massive surprise attack in southern Israel on Saturday but stopped short of declaring military support for the group, saying it was "assessing" the situation while in direct contact with Hamas leadership.'

    It also warned the government of Israel to "learn lessons from the Palestinian resistance" and said the Hamas operation attack was a "decisive response to the continuing crimes of the occupation."

    Israel has one of the best intel apparatuses in the world and that Hamas was able to pull off a massive attack like this I find beyond mind-blowing.

    'Hamas never dreamed of such success, like 9/11 for Israel, says Mideast analyst'

    'Middle East analyst Avi Issacharoff tells The Times of Israel on Saturday that the unprecedented assault on Israel by land, sea and air is an inadvertent benchmark for the Israel-Hamas relations, as significant as the September 11, 2001 attacks on the US.

    “I think that they wanted to kidnap a few people, to negotiate over them, and not to get into the threat of their collapse — of their ending” — that this coordinated attack will inevitably bring, Issacharoff says. “Everyone knows that Gaza will pay a very heavy price.”

    Any former policies of cooperation with the Gaza-based terrorist organization are “not even relevant anymore,” he says, and negotiations “under or over the table” will no longer take place.

    Asked whether he believes Israel’s northern border will become another front in the current war, he says it is as yet unclear whether Hezbollah is planning a coordinated attack.

    “Either they’re going to jump in and be very stupid, or not,” he says.

    “Starting another front with Israel may bring more [Israeli] casualties… but at the end of the day, we might end up with the end of Hamas and Hezbollah.”

    “It’s the 9/11 [for Israel], and if this doesn’t go into a major ground operation, it’s the end of this government’s political life,” says Issacharoff.

    Middle East analyst Avi Issacharoff sure isn't too bright, imo.
    Possible end of Hezbollah? lol
    This attack is more humiliating for Israel the the 2006 Israel–Hezbollah War

    Let me begin by saying that I am not saying that my information is more or less accurate than yours. I have been switching between Fox, CNN and MSNBC all morning. I do this to get a complete prospective of what is going on. It also helps me filter out the obvious political slant to the reporting. What I have been able to put together is that the initial assault was by 2,000 rockets shot into Israel all at once. The result overwhelmed the Iron Dome. Most were knocked down, but some got through. One Israel spokesman stated that some of the damage on the ground was cause by debris from the shot down rockets. At the same time, more than 100 Hamas Militants infiltrated Israel by air, land and sea. They used trucks to infiltrate by land, some came ashore by boats, and they also used gliders and paragliders to attack across the borders. They are supported by drones. The tank that was set afire was by a drone. CNN has shown a video of a section of the road where what is believed to have been Israelis fleeing the fighting, were all shot dead. Some of the vehicle occupants looked to have been shot, and pulled from the vehicle so that they could shoot the other occupants. I also heard a report of a militant going into a house and shooting an entire family while they watched TV. There are also reports of Humas taking hostages and forcing them into the tunnels running under the border. They have even taken dead Israelis into tunnels. I would suspect that is to keep the Israelis from blowing up the tunnels.

    More to follow.

    Things seldom happen in a vacuum.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    More than 800 Israeli settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem on Thursday morning under the protection of Israeli forces.
    Rabbis, heads of settlement associations, and far-right university lecturers were among 832 people who forced their way into the religious site compound, a source in the Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem told The New Arab's Arabic sister site Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.
    Israeli forces imposed severe restrictions on Muslim worshippers entering Al-Aqsa and those under 60 were prevented from accessing the site.
    It comes during the Jewish religious holiday of Sukkot, which started on 29 September and ends on Friday. The holiday has seen thousands of Israeli extremists storm the Al-Aqsa compound, with almost 1,500 entering the site on Monday.
    Israeli extremists also continued on Thursday to hold provocative marches both inside Jerusalem's Old City and outside its walls, attacking Palestinians and their property.
    They also beat and spat at journalists in a market area near Al-Aqsa, where shops were forced to close for the sixth day in a row.
    The Old City is home to Al-Aqsa as well as the Western Wall and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
    The Al-Aqsa compound is the third holiest site in Islam and the most important Muslim place in Palestine.
    Some Jews believe that the compound is the site of a Jewish temple believed to have existed there in ancient times.
    Many Jewish extremists wish to either destroy the mosque and replace it with a temple or divide the site between Muslims and Jews in terms of time and space available.
    While non-Muslims can visit the sacred site, prayer at Al-Aqsa is reserved for Muslims alone under the longstanding status quo agreement governing the compound.
    There are 2.5 million Arabs in the Gaza Strip. The population is young, fattened.
    How many trained fighters are there? A lot, a lot.
    They've now taken over some of the territory that the Jews used to control. The whole area is overpopulated with Jews and Arabs.
    How do you fight a war? Bomb Arab neighborhoods? What would that do? How will the Muslim community view it?
    How do you get the Arabs out of Jewish neighborhoods? Without killing the Jews there?
    Under these conditions, Israel's so-called technological advantage in the form of tanks and airplanes is absolutely useless.
    Let's see what tactics Hamas uses in fighting in Israel.
    The main reliance is on mobile groups. Dump trucks, pickup trucks and even mopeds are used for movement. The attack began early in the morning, when almost all the soldiers of the Israeli army were asleep and were in their barracks or on leave at home. According to preliminary reports, those on duty at the border were interrupted by sniper fire and did not have time to raise the alarm.
    The heavy Israeli armored vehicles seized at the border crossings have not yet been used for fighting, but armored vehicles with machine guns, automatic grenade launchers and other weapons are already being actively used by Palestinians against Israeli police units. The latter have so far been unable to respond adequately and are unable to quell the threat.
    Massive firing of Qassam rockets is gradually shifting from civilian and military targets to infrastructure. The Rutenberg power plant in Ashkelon is reported to have been hit.
    Israeli drone, air and helicopter strikes have so far been ineffective: Palestinians are actively using man-portable air defense systems both from residential areas and from ambushes prepared in advance.
    Without lengthy preparation and detailed intelligence, it is virtually impossible to plan and even more so to carry out such an attack.
    5000 rockets fired in a day, by people with no capability to manufacture launchers or rockets...
    This seems like a major angle any truth seeker would pursue to understand the major dynamics of what is happening here.
    Yeah. I read about that, too.
    Also, Saudi Arabia issued a resolution holding Israel fully responsible.
    We should also consider that Iran may be tacitly part of the anti-Israel coalition. And Iran has good drones that have already been tested in Ukraine.
    It's way beyond comprehending.
    Where the hell has Mossad been?
    This attack wasn't just thought up a few days ago.
    Even if every rocket was gifted to Hamas, the rockets were able to get into Gaza and Hamas some how pulled off a continuing salvo.
