Don't forget Iran it's a hot spot. That's what they get for inviting Chinese and Norks in to run their nuclear weapons program.

I would image so! Many on the left have never really practiced wishful thinking in a positive way.. So your observation does have a lot of truth to it!

It could keep the Ferrari guys from making their first race in F1 next weekend.

A far worse problem than the virus itself.

Actually, the first race of the season takes place in Melbourne, Australia, and "the Ferrari guys" are already there. However, since Modena is one of the affected regions and the current lockdown is set to go to at least April 3, they may not be able to go home between races, and they may have trouble getting replacement parts.

The second race is in Bahrain and they've already banned spectators.

No one will be unaffected by this virus, even if they are never infected.

Italy has 366 deaths from this, but only 7,375 cases? How is that possible? If the coronavirus has a mortality rate of about 1% in an industrialized country like Italy, that would suggest Italy has 36,000+ infected people. Maybe they do, and that's why it really took off the past couple of days over there.

That's a good question. Trump is likely not the only head of state trying to downplay this virus. Italy was already economically recessed, and this is going to make it so much worse.

In fact, the travel industry in general is taking a huge hit already. Airlines are taking planes out of service, and who in their right mind would take a cruise?

Look on the bright side: when the dust settles on COVID-19, travel industry stocks will be super cheap. If I survive this, I'm putting my money (which I fortunately took out of equities in early January for a different reason) and buying airline and cruise industry stocks.

I don't think the cruise industry will ever be the same. Those quarantined ships will be seared into peoples' minds. It's a bloodbath right now in the futures market. Tomorrow is going to be godawful. I predict they halt trading at some point.

The mortality rate is much higher. Italy has put it on +4%.

I think they have a lot of undetected cases. Based on the Diamond Princess and S. Korea, the mortality rate is about 1%.
