WASHINGTON — First brother James Biden confirmed during his impeachment inquiry testimony that a $40,000 check made out to former Vice President Joe Biden in 2017 used funds James received from a Chinese government-linked company — while James also revealed he received overseas income as recently as last year.

James, 74, insisted that he didn’t believe the company, CEFC China Energy, was controlled by Beijing — claiming that “I just misspoke” when telling the IRS in a 2022 interview that first son Hunter Biden, who was partnering with his uncle, had described CEFC chairman Ye Jianming as a “protégé” of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Subpoenaed bank records showed that the James Biden bank account from which the $40,000 check to Joe Biden came had a balance of just $46.88 before receiving a $50,000 infusion days beforehand, on Aug. 28, 2017.

The first brother said he was repaying a personal loan to Joe when James’ wife, Sara Biden, cut the $40,000 check to the future president on Sept. 3, 2017. He said there was no loan paperwork or interest.

And the story continues to evolve. What a far cry we are today from Joe Biden stating "i've never discussed any of my sons business with him". Does the entire family just lie about everything? Way more covered in the article.

. . . lol, dude, even the bank records Congress has reviewed shows the loan. It isn't illegal to repay a loan. But keep going with your idea that Biden's master plan was to . . . make net zero money for no discernable official act . . . making it the least bribe-like bribe of any bribe in all of bribery history.

Minimum-interest rules refer to a federal law that requires that a minimum rate of interest be charged on any loan transaction between two parties. The minimum-interest rules mandate that even if the lender charges no rate, an arbitrary rate will be automatically imposed upon the loan.

Omg he didn’t charge his brother interest?!? Time to file the impeachment charges!
You have to charge monthly interest, but what if you repay it in less than a month?

I think James having 48 dollars to his name sorta helps the claim that it was a loan lol

Nah we agree that a guy with 48 dollars in his account probably needed a loan and that his brother was nice enough not to charge interest

    What Are Minimum-Interest Rules?
Minimum-interest rules refer to a federal law that requires that a minimum rate of interest be charged on any loan transaction between two parties. The minimum-interest rules mandate that even if the lender charges no rate, an arbitrary rate will be automatically imposed upon the loan.

The minimum-interest rules are at least partly intended to prevent excess gifting between taxpayers via intra-family loans with no or below-market interest rates. For this reason, minimum-interest rules apply regardless of the relationship between the borrower and lender, even if they are related.

    https://www.investopedia.com/terms/m/minimum-interest-rules.asp

Not charging interest on an intrafamily loan may cause the lender to run afoul of the IRS rules on gifting. If the imputed interest not charged is above the gift tax exclusion amount, then it has to be reported to the IRS. It also affects inheritance taxes later.

If it comes from extreme RW media and has "bombshell" in the title, we KNOW that it is B$, we don't have to guess.

In any case, why don't just wait until the transcript is released? Oh, we know why, the GOP wants to set the stage with innuendo, to keep the narrative going.

Sounds like a minor tax code violation. I do wonder if the length of the loan matters, since he claims he paid him back in just a couple weeks. Joe should definitely pay any relevant penalties.

You are correct about the interest rule.

So you have got Joe Biden on not charging interest on a loan to a family member?

Thats it! You finally did it. Time to impeach him
    Congratulations!

    Oh this likely absolutely happened

What do you think should be done to someone that likely skirted the IRS of failing to charge [$40,000 × (0.03 / 365) × (6 / 365)] ≈ $49.32 in interest?

So $18.20 likely owed to the IRS

If this is what is making news for you people to be excited then the election mud slinging is going to be beautiful.

Here we have candidate number one who misreported, $20 vs candidate number two who was twice impeached by a bipartisan majority, is convicted of rape, owes 600 million due to fraud and said rape, pays off hookers, is an adulterer that tried to steal a US election!

    But Biden is so OLD!

Can you quote him saying this about his family? I thought he said he has never taken money.

    Can your leader say that?

If he said he knew the innermost details of his entire family then that was a stupid statement on his part.

So your silver bullet is that Joes BROTHER, gave him money, but since he didnt charge him interest, that its a bribe...FROM HIS BROTHER ?

Now ask yourself these very simple questions.....
    1. If Joe Biden is the grifter you claim, how come he had no money in the bank just a year after being the VP for the 8 previous years when he had that power ?
    2. In 2017, Joe Biden was not in office, so why would anyone bribe a "private citizen" who has no money ?
    3. Joe Bidens taxes have been public record for $35 years........why dont you show us your math now....

    Thoroughly farcical.

It is safe to assume that, If the President had engaged in any of the sinister antics the Trump worshipers alleged, the goobers, during over a year of relentless pursuit and frequent hyperbolic statements, would have been able to contrive pretexts for actual charges of some sort or another - unless the senile criminal mastermind has been continually and thoroughly outwitting them.

The parade of their heralded "key witnesses" discrediting their blood-curdling tales of iniquity has been quite revelatory, of course. Their "Burisma" fanyasy, that the disgraced Rudy "We’ve got lots of theories, we just don’t have the evidence!” Giuliani concocted, was particularly amusing.
