Just lost another new thread

This forum is maddening. Instead of getting better... it's getting worse.

I'm sick of losing posts!!

 

Copy them with a left click, before posting.

So when the site kicks you out, you have it saved, then click paste when you sign back on.

 

Server needs an upgrade - either that or we impose a thread limit on the guys who are starting 10-20 new threads a day.

 

Hushup LM... I'm as sick of the 'helpful suggestions' as I am of being booted off and losing my posts.

And the first one who shows up here with, "I don't know what you mean, it's working fine for me" gets a fat lip.

 

I don't think it's volume. With the rate we're losing members, pretty soon there won't be enough posters to keep 10 new threads alive.

Whatever the problem... it's the same one we've had for at least 2 years now. It gets better for awhile, then we're back to square one.

It's crazy.

 

I don't know what you mean, it's been working just fine for me.

Have you tried clearing your internet cache?


Ha...joking. It is getting worse. We're going to see a repeat of the last election season when increased traffic brings this site to its knees.

 

My Golden Posts, are facing Forum obstructionism as of recent.

Messages like server is too busy, or sudden log offs, are ruining the Political Forum experience right now...

 

Well, I guess there are some advantages then.

 

It would probably help, SMW, if you'd quit getting the Staff plastered in yer bar. (hiccup)

Well, you have a point... and mornings do seem to be the WORST TIME for technical problems.

Unfortunately I think these probs are beyond the capable hands of the mods. The way I understand it... somebody calls somebody and she calls the man and he kicks the server and it runs better for awhile.

We're lulled into a false sense of security and then suddenly ZAP, you lost a post with 4 links and 3 pics... and the most brilliant things you ever said.

Cursing is optional, drinking is mandatory.

Seems to be working OK tonight.

Gotta Database Error for breakfast this morning... but then it leveled off and seems to be OK.

Maybe prunes would help? Do you see a slot we might cram some prunes into?

I get the DB errors when I type more than 3 sentences or it at least seems that way. May favorite is getting constantly logged out so posts can't be made. You read a thread, create a reply, hit post and you're already logged out or get the "leave page?" message

 

That's what got me so riled I started this thread. Things were just fine til I tried to post the new thread I'd just spent 30 min researching... so I didn't copy and it was lost. Re-created it and I did copy this time... but it still took me two times to get it posted.

Ridiculous. I just hope this forum can limp thru the upcoming election.

 

Yep. Or if you include a picture or other multimedia. Anything but a quick one-liner tosses up an error of some sort 9 times out of 10.

I get the "leave page" message all the time...

I don't get logged out, however.

 

If its going to be a long story book post, make sure to copy it before posting. 99 percent of the time, the server will trash it because its too much work on the circuits to post it.

then you keep antagonizing the site by pasting it over and over again, until it finally gives in and decides to do the hard work.

Wow, this is a new one to me. Just got a vb message stating, "server too busy, try again later".

 

You are free to leave. That is one way of making this forum better

 

I've been getting that one, every since the upgrade and improvements.

I've been seriously considering finding another one that is faster and more reliable.

 

I love posting in technical threads just to give the *******s free cheapshots. Thx for not disappointing me.

 

Well, surely most members have already found back-up forums (like we have ). Honestly, sometimes when it's so slow here, I post something, go there and catch up, then come back here to see if it went thru. It's crazy.
