I like Donald Trump, his policies and his tenacious energy particularly with the press... but if he is afraid to stand on the issues and what he intends to do instead of intimidating competitors who would promote virtually the same policies, then I see his egomaniac nature has overcome his ability to lead. Besides.....he can only offer four more years while DeSantis could give us eight. Read this article and decide for yourself. Does this hold with Reagan's doctrine of not speaking ill of other Republicans? I myself think DeSantis has shown a great deal of restraint!

It took you 7 years to figure this out? His nastiness, pettiness, egomania, name calling, intimidation of opponents were there for all to see in 2016. My guess is back then you didn't mind, because it was directed against people you didn't like. Now, that it is directed against one of YOUR guys, DeSantis, all of a sudden you have a wake-up call. It's too little, too late. Watch him tear down your party, and DeSanrtis, so that he can feed his own ego. And, if he succeeds, watch him tear down America.

Your guess was right. He is the 1st Republican in a long time to actually fight the Democrat Marxists they way they attack Republicans. I am all for that.....until he turns on his own. DeSantis can fight. Trump just doesn't seem to realize if he were to win.....he would need the support of DeSantis and his supporters. To me that is just plain dumb.

I imagine Desantis, like other primary candidates in the past, would support DJT, if he becomes the nominee. He might even accept the VP spot, if it was more than just symbolic.

I like to see DeSantis before I would see Trump again but if it comes down to Trump or some other Democrat....

And it doesn't matter if you jump ship from Trump to DeSantis the liberals here are still going to degrade you as some sort of fascist supporter.

So don't expect to be forgiven. The hell with it and full speed ahead.

I agree about DeSantis. It is very childish and self destructing for Trump to blackball anyone supporting DeSantis. I don't want that in a leader.

So could you even imagine Desantis, were he ahead in the polls, saying something like "if you work for Trump you'll never work for me"? It would never happen.
DeSantis, I believe, will give Trump a run for his money. So Trump is willing to blow off all those supporters??? Sounds like suicide by a brat to me. As I said in the OP... the Reagan Doctrine should be adhered to and Republicans (in this case American 1sters) should not attack their own.

Politics (primaries) can be mean. Trump is just being Trump. If it didn't bother you in 2016, I don't know why it bothers you now. Desantis is holding is own and if he jumps in the race (good possibility he will) he'll start punching back. But, he really should stay focused on his record and policy positions. Yet, he's also scrappy and not hesitant to throw punches.

For as much good as he did as president Trump has an ego that is his own worst enemy. And his enemies on the left use every bit of it against him.

I think his time is done.

The polls seem to suggest otherwise. It's too early for me to say he doesn't have a chance. Many pundits made that mistake in 2016.

In 2016 there wasn't anyone else in the GOP primary I trusted to fight like Trump. They deserved to be attacked. Haven't heard him attacking Nikki Haley yet he attacks Desantis. Yet when he announces he just will never work with DeSantis or his supporters, which obviously could be great assets to him, he just shows the kind of leadership I would never expect in someone who puts the interests of America 1st. I've never heard of any politician use those threatening strategies. I will be all out for DeSantis.

The polls now, of course because DeSantis has not made his speech. Trump has alienated DeSantis supporters with this strategy. Don't expect further support from them as he faces these leftist legal complications. Right or wrong, he has made his bed and he can lie in it. When Haley and any others begin to drop out, DeSantis will see a surge in support. I know many that support Trump but admittedly don't like his childish antics as well as those who don't support him now.. This may well be the last nail in his coffin. Just my opinion.

This should be no surprise. He was a life long Democrat before he turned on them. It was just a matter of time. Remember this man is all about himself above all else.

I'm pretty sure Trump worked with those he competed against in the 2016 primaries (Cruz comes to mind) after tearing them up. Romney (though he wasn't running) even jockeyed to get a top spot in his administration.

Consider the example of the Democrats. On stage Harris essentially accused Joe of being a racist and she became the Party's pick for his running mate.

There's an old saying: It's all fair in love and war. Politicians love the spotlight and will do almost anything to share it with those that control it.

Yea, but what if Desantis turns around and supports Trump in the general? Would Desantis followers pout and refuse to fall in with him?

And especially when he fails, he will continue to tear down America to nurse his ego.
I call on all repubs to repudiate this seditious malignant narcissist during the primaries.
He is a cancer on our country.

You may be right.....I don't know. The fact Kamala was chosen by Biden after she called him a racist is just an example of a lack of principle and integrity on Joe's part. This is different. Trump has made a threat to scare anyone supporting DeSantis. Don't know about you but threats like that work the opposite with me. I'd like to think of that as an American trait.

Trump has good policies for the country and our citizens. He is a natural leader in the world. But he has this adolescent flaw that turns people against him. He can be his worst enemy at times. The MSM and the dems will do all they can to marginalize Trump. DeSantis has the smarts to defeat Trump in a debate. Once they are on the stage together people will see DeSantis is better for the country. Trump's time has probably passed.

No, I think Trump would get their support as well as mine.....reluctantly. But we will do all we can to put DeSantis in once he announces!

I think you say that in hopes you retain Biden or a similar Globalist/Marxist regime in power. Not in agreement there.

I really don't pay much attention to the personal attacks politicians make (other than to observe it as a tactic). Desantis is good in many ways, but the Queensbury rules don't apply in politics. Politicians can kiss and make up after the fight. They have to if they want the Party's platforms to move forward. Afterall, it's the destination that matters, not who's driving the bus.

That is a good article well worth considering. Another consideration is the thought Trump gets pretty scarred up in his legal battles. I know several on the left would like to see this New York Grand Jury thing dropped because it is so very weak and they feel they have far better chances in Georgia. With remarks like blackballing DeSantis supporters early on, even before an announcement, I think he has lost a lot of support from those who would have supported him inn this legal challenge.

If you hadn’t noticed the more exposure DeSantis receives the worse his numbers become. He’s been in a free-fall since December and isn’t a good national candidate.

Maybe it’s just me, but I really don’t want see the picture of him sportin’ those white go-go boots 24/7 in 2024.
