They are not looking to ban pizza ovens. They are adopting the same legislation that they have in Italy requiring a filter. Yes, they are expensive, but they do a lot to cut down on the smoke. One NY pizzeria owner switched to gas from wood burning and is saving a lot of money - and the pizza is just as good, if not better.

    It's not "going after" anyone.
It is regulating pollution to the benefit of everyone.

How are car companies doing? Bankrupted by regulation? No?
You mean DESPITE regulation of automotive emissions the car companies are still in business?

If pizza makers cannot make pizza without poisoning the air then it's best they not make pizza anymore.

I shall welcome the day when the GOP victim mentality fades away.

NYC doesn't generate electricity so, your point is pointless.

Cars used top be terrible pollution sources. Not so much anymore thanks to regulation.
Same with diesel engines although there are some purposeful "smokers" out there who are heavily fined when caught...

How long will it be before that pizzeria owner is forced to switch from gas to electricity?

What do you think is worse for pollution, the few dozen pizzerias that use wood ovens, or JFK, Newark and Laguardia airports. With the airports, it's not just the planes, it's also the cars that come and go to them along with the big rig trucks that move cargo. But pizza ovens, really?

So you're saying you want a global ban on air travel?

    Good luck with that.

I bake pizza without a wood fired oven.
    Why can't you?

    OR

Is this just another MAGA BUTTHURT OF THE DAY?

I understand your thinking, but I have to disagree. We should all do our part when it is pointed out. Waiting for the big polluters to start the ball rolling doesn't work. So while I agree with the focus being on the airports it doesn't mean we should stop there. The neighborhoods were complaining. Even some of the patrons complained. So action has been taken. I see that as a good and responsible government.

I don't get the impression that NYC pizzamakers are 'GOP'... NYC is something like 80% Democrat. What makes you think these pizzamakers are 'GOP'?

This is a ~$20,000 each expense on small businesses that are culturally iconic to NYC. Many of them are not going to be able to afford it. But also, there's only about 100 of them. Why is the city going after them before it goes after things like diesel trucks and the NYC energy grid that is ~75% fossil driven? It appears because they're not corporate, they don't have big league attorneys to resist the bureaucracy and they're not large sources of revenue for the city like other, much bigger polluters are.

But hey, I don't live there, its not my local culture that's being regulated out of existence or into corporate capture. If New Yorkers want microwave pizza (powered by fossil fuels) instead of wood fired (because NYC already banned installing new gas lines), its not really my circus.

On a somewhat related note- were you aware the EPA has listed wood burning as 'carbon neutral'?
The EPA Declared That Burning Wood Is Carbon Neutral. It's Actually a Lot More Complicated | Smart News| Smithsonian Magazine

Essentially these pizzamakers are being punished for being more 'green'.

I never said pizza makers were GOP.
Why do you feel the need to be deceitful?
My quotes are right there, the lies are easy to prove, so why bother?

So now, after proposing the elimination of air travel on a global basis, you want to eliminate all diesel vehicles?

    No one is being punished.
This is just the MAGA BUTTHURT OF THE DAY

You said: "I shall welcome the day when the GOP victim mentality fades away"
...was that NOT in context to NYC pizzamakers? Cause that's what we been talking about...

What was it you were saying being deceitful? I proposed no such thing. I am in favor of MORE CARBON. I like it when crop yeilds are more efficient and less of our planet is frozen. I'm in favor of making the world more useful for humans than it already is. That seems more like 'progress' to me. I'm not the one labeling carbon as a 'pollutant' and taxing everyone into oblivion over it.

Who is 'butthurt'? Not me. I can woodfire all the pizza I want. These are New Yorkers that are being restricted, not me. I'm just calling out the hypocrisy of it all.

Why do you think it will be better for NYC and/or the environment once most of the pizza in NYC is cooked with fossil fuels instead of wood? Because that is going to be the result.

And what would you call attributing other people's statements to me? Lazy, or stupid?

Leave it to NY politicians to come up with half baked ideas!

Maybe they will just raise taxes on pizza to they get a slice of the action!

    Um......yea,,,,,InfoWars.......

No, they are not banning pizza, they are asking older Pizzerias with wood burning ovens to add emission control devices (to reduce smoke) like the new Pizzerias are doing.

'Asking' lol... are you suggesting there won't be fines involved if they refuse to install scrubbers, and jail involved if they refuse to pay the fines?

Also, no one said anything about banning pizza. Why do you have to misframe the topic in order to discuss it?

You: "So now, after proposing the elimination of air travel on a global basis, you want to eliminate all diesel vehicles"
Me: "I proposed no such thing"
You: "You did, or one of your fellows. Get rid of air traffic, get rid of diesel...LOOK UP"

I said its hypocritical to go after 100 wood burning stoves while most of the city is still powered by natural gas and diesel. I didn't propose eliminating anything at all. Someone may have, and that someone has nothing to do with me or my argument.

That's you saying to go after diesel trucks.

    apology accepted.

Care to try for your global ban on air travel?

I also said 'go after pizza ovens' too, and the NYC energy grid. Did you think I meant to eliminate the NYC energy grid?

I never mentioned air travel except to note that you misattributed it to me. It seems like you don't care enough about debating to bother to keep track of who you're talking to or who said what. Some might call that "lazy." Or "stupid."

Steve N is one of mine? What the hell does that mean?

I wouldn't have thought it necessary, but I'll ask that you address Steve N's posts to Steve N. I am not Steve N.

...tho, I couldn't help but notice that it doesn't appear Steve N was calling to 'eliminate' air travel either...
