Macron and Le Pen won the first round today.

I think Macron will take this. He is polling in the 60%+ in head to head.

It looks like France realized they were being invaded too late. I will root for Le Pen, anyhow.

We've seen how reliable polling is.

If she's not elected, France is gone.

Le Pen is the choice of both Putin and our so-called president.
Putin doesn't like fascism, but anything that weakens the EU is fine with him.
Trump - who knows what he thinks, or if he thinks - Jared or Bannon must've told him to back LePen.
Macron beat LePen by nearly a million - they have a LOT fewer voters - hope that margin increases a lot in May.

The fact we elected Trump just shows you why America is better than France. French were to dumb to notice.

Muslims are attempting, and quite successfully, to subterfuge the west. When they increase in power they will impose their will aggressively and openly.

Look no further than their "prophet" for inspiration of these people. He would take advantage of people's hospitality and strike at the right time.

We noticed you elected Trump, thanks, we have TV and newspapers.

Macron have most newspapers to his side.

It will be interesting to see if France goes full surrender with Macron. I am curious if people have any suggestions for renaming the land mass? Something more Islamic would be appropriate.

depends, it is obvious who the progressive French press will be pushing, but with Euroscepticism high in France and particularly high in the NE region where small business is choking from over regulation from a government far removed from the people. If I were the EU I wouldn't count on the inevitability of Macron

Macron is a centrist. I know to the rabid right wing ideologues that seemingly regenerate daily on this forum that to them, centrists are communists.

They arent. If france values moderation they vote macron. If they fall for the baby boomer racism trap they vote le pen.

Well, the Putin connection is direct with Le Pen, the bank he controls loaned her a lot of money for this campaign. This should concern every French citizen as well as Americans.

Trump's lack of early success is probably dragging Le Pen down. They can point to America and say that electing a crazy nationalistic outsider might feel good to some people, but it won't make the magical things promised come true.

Maybe the French have discovered Steve Bannon cribbed a bunch of le Pen's bigoted rhetoric and see how it turns out.

Given the state of things in France I wouldn't be especially surprised if Le Pen pulled it off, and I certainly don't think they should count her out yet.

But I'm not optimistic. Those who didn't vote for her in the first round are unlikely to back her in the second. Either you're an FN supporter or you're not.

Plus Macron isn't some devastatingly unpopular radical socialist like Hollande (getting f***ed in the ass by pinecone wielding squirrels is more popular than Hollande), he presents some sort of reasonable opposition.

For these reasons I'm predicting 60/40 Macron/LePen. Consider anything better than 55/45 a victory for FN, and an actual LePen victory as the death knell for the EU.

At first glance, Macron should win easily. There could be an "October event" or any number of things could happen but I think the majority of the French people will avoid a neo Nazi in a skirt. She knows she is in a very tough spot which is why she has just stepped down from being leader of the National Front party, to try and distance herself from the more radical positions of her ultra right winger friends and supporters. A debate is scheduled for May 3, we'll see how this goes.

So, unless something really out of the ordinary happens, Macron should win going away. And no, this contest is not similar to Trump / Clinton.

    Mac takes this thing easily.

Unlike this country, France doesn't have enough useful idiots to put that hard-rightie over the top.

Just don't let the door hit your fat butt on the way OUT, Le Pen...
