The wife and I have made many large batches. The savings over a year is substantial and the product works much better than the watered down liquids you get from the stores. We store them in #10 cans you can purchase on the web or at your local LDS cannery.

Each batch yields approximately 32 ounces (between 32-64 loads based on how many Tbsp used per load).

1 bar (or 4.5 ounces) of shaved bar soap Ivory, ZOTE, Fels-Naptha. We use Fels-Naptha with great results purchased at Wal Mart.
    1 cup of borax
    1 cup of washing soda

    1 – 55 ounce box of Arm & Hammer® Super Washing Soda = $3.99
    1 – 76 ounce box of 20 Mule Team® Borax = $4.99
1 – 10 pack of 4.5 ounce bars of Ivory® Bar Soap or any soap you prefer on sale.

I purchased a cheap blender at a yard sale to mix the ingredients. Use 2 tbsp per load.
