OK. Using Jeff9K's example. Eight and half years of total GOP control: Prosperity. Three and a half years of GOP total control: Depression Nine years of total Democrat control: Depression. Four years of total Democrat control: US involvement in the biggest war in history. Two years of total Democrat control: Prosperity. The lesson learned: In most of the period of total GOP control you had prosperity and peace. In most of the period of total Democrat control you had Depression and the biggest war ever.
The GOP "prosperity" was invalid because it was fake prosperity that caused the Great Depression!! And it took years and years to fix! GET LOGIC!!
