Far more information and clarification needed on this to draw any conclusions at all at this time.

Well that's how Noam Chomsky describes himself, as a social and leftist libertarian which is just a fancy way of describing himself as a social anarchist or an anarchist that is socialist.

My life is interesting in the evolution of my own personal political beliefs, I started out as a democratic socialist neo liberal initially seventeen years ago and then became a communist for awhile. From a communist I went into becoming an anarchist completely abandoning communism entirely and from an anarchist I eventually became an autocratic fascist that I am today.

Sure, he has some interesting ideas regarding manufacturing consent, the media, and along with how the political structure relates between the two but he's hardly unique in that manner.

I don't like Trump because for me he's just another owned politician, nonetheless I despise the democratic party where I'll end up voting republican midterms and the next national election even though I am not republican myself. It may not change ultimately that much but at least I'll get a bunch of butthurt neo liberals out of the deal where I'll settle for that even if I view all voting to be completely rigged. It might not change much but at the very least it will be a symbolic act of defiance against the far left politically.

I'm better at self educating myself on things than I ever was learning in school. Schools are filled with a bunch of useless teachers whose only goal is collecting a paycheck these days.

I usually watch mainstream media as an exercise of studying state propaganda and deconstructing other people's lies. For me it is more like comedy than it is actual news.

Don't like either side ... to voting Red or Blue out of political feelings is silly as either way you get the same Establishment. I vote the person - someone who understands what the Establishment is and has at least expressed a desire to change the systemic issues - if I can fine one that is.

CNN "the most trusted source in News". There is no "news" anymore - or very little. . First rule of journalism school "Thou shalt not editorialize - give your opinion. That is 99% of what is sold as News these days. It isn't.

The CIA and national security agencies took over news outlets from the 1980's onwards. It's all state propaganda from both the left and right.

Yes, that's one thing we do share in beliefs, we hate both political parties equally.

The severance is not that generous,it has a max of 60 weeks pay regardless of how many years you have in service.Male employees over age 50 will have a VERY TOUGH time matching their present salary or even coming close.

So if OP is correct, I suspect he/she is wrong; Verizon is doing what they want with their tax cut. So be it! But to say since Verizon is doing it then ALL companies must be doing it and therefore Trumps tax cut is a failure! I think it is easier for me to believe this thread is the biggest failure in this context.

Fact is, Verizon hasn't paid any corporate taxes for several years. Trumps tax cut wasn't really designed for companies like Verizon or for that matter many other large global companies who don't pay much if any corporate taxes. The tax cut has helped some small business and has increased overall capX spending. It has and will continue to creates jobs.

What do you mean “wasn’t designed for companies like Verizon” ? It cut their base rate by almost 15 points. It WAS designed for them.

The overall point is that these tax cuts did the exact opposite of what the right claimed they would do. Average wages went up a whole $2 a week. While tax burdens dropped by 15%. “Creating jobs” is a big misnomer because they still pay nothing.

Lets just do some simple math......

Verizon got a $28 billion $$$ tax break, and they employ roughly 160,000 employees (per the story in the OP)

15% of $28 billion would add another $4.2 billion to their “refund”. Divide that by the number of employees and thats $26,250 per employee they received in new benefit. In that same time period, they gave the actual employee $104 of that break........

Now tell me again how thats good for workers ?
