Of all the things that could interrupt a peaceful morning walk, how likely is it that you'd find a "jacked" kangaroo with your dog in a "headlock"?

Mildura resident Mick Moloney was stretching by a log near the Murry River over the weekend when he noticed one of his Akitas, Hatchi, was missing.

"I looked in [towards the river] and behind these reeds I could just see this massive kangaroo … standing there with his arms actually in the water just staring at me," he told ABC Radio Melbourne.

"After about 15 seconds, Hatchi came up and he was in a headlock with this kangaroo.

"Water was just gushing out of his mouth and he yelped quite badly."

Mr Moloney said he made a loud noise thinking the kangaroo would get scared and let go of his dog, but that did not happen.

A brave act taking on that Roo in hand to hand combat. Too bad Moloney didn't have a gun to "cap" that nasty looking critter and turn him into jerky.

Kangaroos are ****ing terrifying. Seems like all of them are jacked. This is actually like the third story I've seen of them trying to choke out or drown a dog. I need to find one of the videos, because in that one the owner gets in a boxing stance and punches the ****er in the face. I hope he had enough help from his friends to carry both of his dog and his GIANT ****ING BALLS to safety.

I was just going to mention that. That video is awesome. The kangaroo gets punched in the face and his head rolls back and he's like now what?

It reminds me of the famous motivational quote from Mike Tyson..... Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face. Lol

Reminds me of another giant balls video...
Does everyone remember the video of the old man in Florida whose puppy was taken under water into a pond by a gator?

He jumps in and wrestles The Gator and gets the dog out of the Gator's jaws and the puppy runs off up the bank yelping and the old man never even dropped the cigar in his mouth.

It was only about a three or four foot Gator but still... Do you need a wheelbarrow sir to carry your giant balls around in?

I actually went to a gym a while back and let people punch me in the face for exactly that reason. Gloves on, of course, and not particularly hard, but I wanted to practice still sparing after a bop. I guess I'm better at it than I was before, but I'm working my way up to "still having 10% of a plan after punched in the face."

I remember the dude with the cigar! There's actually a family acquaintance of mine who was killed by 6+ ft gator a few years ago. Totally his fault. Dude was warned the gator was there and decided he wanted to go swimming anyway. His last words were "**** the gator."

Around here, we have coyotes that might go after a dog if it was too close to a den, but that's about it as far as wildlife threats to dogs go. Well, okay, snakes as well, but I've trained my dogs to leave snakes the **** alone. They aren't going to get bit unless they go after one or accidentally step on a copperhead or something. I have two pitties and a little chinese crested. The latter is the only one I really worry about as both hawks and owls have shown a little too much interest in my bunny-sized girl.

It's worse than that. Most are harmless and then out of the blue they randomly turn psycho. And I don't use that word lightly...they are literally try to kill you.

Coyotes are pretty smart. One coyote you can come up to the house and try to get your dog to chase it and it'll lead it right back to the pack.

Somebody in a local Facebook group page said that a large rattlesnake had been spotted in the neighborhood and several of them chimed in about how they would kill it.

I said great, let's take a keystone species that's already in decline and kill it out of a sense of fear and ignorance.....

I told him the most dangerous animal you'll ever meet is a human being but we don't go around saying we should kill all of them....

Of course I have my feelings on that but I'm not going to express them.... lol

I don't kill snakes or spiders. I don't kill anything except for roaches, mosquitos, or flies, unless I plan to eat it. Maybe wasps, but I even give those girls a lot of leeway. I'm on a snake identification group on FB, and one of the most annoying rules (though I get it) is that we are not to provide any advice as to whether or not anyone should kill the snake. I HATE it when they do, but I can't say anything. 90% of the time, the snake isn't even venomous, and even when it is venomous, it is fine if you just leave it alone. The most I do is to spray it with a hose to get it to leave my yard.

Don't get me wrong, if a copperhead bit one of my girls, I might lose rationality and kill the snake out of revenge, but I'd be in the wrong there.

I've never seen coyotes that smart, but I don't doubt they can do that. If I had a bigger property, I'd keep a donkey around just to guard against those guys. My biggest dog (~70 lb pittie) has a best friend donkey that she likes to touch noses with on our walks.

Coyotes are hard to figure out other than they seem to be able to avoid humans. I have 11 acres of woods and behind me is 60 acres of woods. I am told there are Coyotes about, but I never see them. My dog and the neighbor dogs alert constantly at night, probably due to the Coyotes roaming around most nights. They could easily kill farm animals such as goats in the day time but don't. At night the neighbors goats get put in pens or a barn. There must be something in the woods the Coyotes are eating. If they are eating deer they must drag the bodies off for some distance before earing them as I never see deer remains other than what humans kill during hunting season. A pack of Coyotes would likely easily kill my 80 pound dog, but the neighbor has several great Pyranees any one of which would probably take on multiple Coyotes with success.

Preparing for self defense by experiencing some contact seems like a good idea. Speaking as an old person, the problem with most martial arts back in the day was students never got hit because all punches were pulled to the point of no contact, e.g., the absurd point sparring. Then in a self defense situation it was shocking to both get hit and also shocking to see that landing a shot did not always drop someone.

The chances are that the dog chased the kangaroo into the water. The bad guy was not the kangaroo

Dingos hunt kangaroos. Kangaroos will enter water to protect themselves. Don't mess with a kanga!
