This is not the first time. It's not even close to the first time a US embassy has been attacked.

And it's technically a myth that they're considered US soil. They're still the soil of the host country, just protected by treaty.

 

It's being reported in the British press that an American staffer at the Benghazi consulate has been shot dead by Libyans.

Giving in to the threat of such "payback" has a payback itself which dwarfs it, its called oppression and its rife in totalitarian regimes. Thanks to a lot of brave people who were willing to accept the risk of your payback for the better good of mankind we in the West live in freedom with the greatest opportunities to fulfill our human potentials than could have been imagined only a few centuries ago.
