Again people keep talking about being offended by Merry Christmas and Egg Hunts. We are not offended by salutations. Sometimes it is good to remind people that the world is not homogeneous. I have been offended when told that I am a bad parent for not celebrating Christmas, which has happened.

The whiny children are those that boycott stores that don't say Merry Christmas or don't put enough Christmas versus other tags in their advertising. This is just another example of the Christian right seeing themselves as victims. It is sad.

I think it's great for kids to have some understanding of others Holidays as well. If a child does not understand something that's when fear or bias enters ones thinking, we live in a diverse country why not Celebrate that? Faith is no more ''catchy'' than homosexuality....LOL

People have told you that? really a bad parent? I have never heard of anybody accusing a person of that, that would have to be a very rare situation.

I could be wrong, but I believe you may be looking at the extreme of things and any extreme will always exist in anything. Sure, I much rather shop in a store that keeps that part of the season special, it adds to the fun and celebration. However if I need a certain something I would shop at any store.

If a store finds it to their benefit to accommodate those Celebrating than great, my guess as a businessman is that they would.

I remember when I was really young and saw another child wearing a Yamaka,,,Boy,,I thought how mysterious, how spooky it seemed. I actually avoided that other little Boy. I asked my Father about it, my Father was a wonderful, wonderful human being. He explained the Jewish faith to me and the Yamaka. I then thought,,Gee how Great! That young man and I stayed friends to this very day, could have been very different had I a different Father..

Fox News makes the months of November and December the War on Christmas months, people have written books on this false war and there is an organization that tells people to boycott stores who don't say Merry Christmas in their adds. Happy Holidays has become a curse word, it is not me looking at the extreme it is me seeing the culture because of course this whole thread is about another loud mouth saying I am warring on Christmas.

Another example is Santa Monica where a public park had an exclusively Christian display and the local atheist groups wanted to add a Solstice display and won a spot. This drove the Christians to vandalize atheists' displays and finally the whole thing was cancelled. Of course the Christian groups screamed that they have their free speech rights violated, which they weren't, but there you go.

Funny atheists that make up about 20% of the population of the US just wanted a voice. Why is this bad?

What would you call the idea behind this thread?

Perhaps the OP is looking at the extreme here....while ignoring the 284, 658, 402 Easter egg hunts planned for Sunday.

I did not see him call you a bad parent..., had nothing to do with parenting. I thought it meant he wanted to be left alone with the celebration of customs.

I really do not care what Fox or any media says, I have a huge family and many friends and I do not see the masses waring on anybody. I do see people voicing some opinions though. I think the average person on the street just shrugs most of this off, that's my opinion.

Little groups of people, taking things too far that's all,,,both sides. No chain saw massacre...

I guess the Christian folks look at it the same way. Personally I think those two groups should display far apart from one another, that's what I think. I believe if they both did that there would not be a problem.

so you ignore reality and say I am focusing on the extreme. I agree everyone should have access to public ground, schools should be able to decide what they call their winter and spring celebrations and local governments can decide what they want to do like not have Egg hunts and no one should complain, but that isn't happening.

I assume this is what you were talking about...

Had this been my decision I would have allowed 100 feet for Atheists, and a similar amount for faiths,,,BUT, put them plenty far apart. I would not allow for one to play off another.

These are not products for commercial gain so there is no competition factor., but Celebrations.
