"Black History Month is an insult. You’re going to relegate my history to a month?" & "Also ‘African-American’ is an insult. I don’t subscribe to that title," He went on... "Black people have had different titles all the way back to the n-word and I do not know how these things get such a grip, but everyone uses ‘African-American.’ What does it really mean?" he asked. Freeman also argued that people talk about "Irish-Americans" and "Italian-Americans," but not "Euro-Americans." "And you say Africa as if it’s a country when it’s a continent, like Europe," he added. Yeah, I don't think you can call them "insults", but when Faux news hears about a POC criticizing their people they're going to print it no matter how credible. Of course teaching Black history is not relegated to a single month and the African American culture in the US are all of African origin. Should Asian American feel insulted too?
Morgan freeman is an individualist. He’s not a person that puts people into a collective ball. He actually has some great quotes. Conservatives by in large are individualists which is why fox publishes this.
You are "insulted" by Black History month and the term African American? These will not be in his top 100. No, Fox likes to publish anything racially divisive or what will scare the old white people to keep them watching.
I agree with Freeman. There is also no such thing as black history. Black people in history are part of everyone's history. Why are you trying to segregate based on race? There is no black history, no women's history, no kung fu history no mashed potatoes history. Trying to separate out people that are black from history is bigotry.
Yes. African Americans are people like Elon musk. And calling history black is bigotry. That's exactly how every news station operates.
Veterans day stopped being a day to honor veterans and became an insult when the ad agencies jumped in, and it became the perfect time to buy a cheap mattress, or a used car. Same as Christmas sales, Presidents day sales etc. https://blackfriday.com/news/best-veterans-day-sales
No, you don't agree with Morgan. You are just being disagreeable. He doesn't see a problem with Black history. His problem is limiting it to one month. An ethnicity has decided it wants to be formally called African American and informally Black and you have a problem with that? Maybe you just wanted to vent about something.....feel better?
Do you think Fox watchers who think there should not be a Black History Month would agree with him and feel vindicated by a Black man, yet their intent was racist?
We don't have Japanese history month, Chinese history month, European history month, Mexican history month...but we demand to have "black history month"? Because black people are special why? We have history. That's it, history. Black history is American history. It's our history. Morgan Freeman is absolutely correct here. He's a smart man.
"Black history is American history" - Morgan Freeman. His problem is he wants it not declared "black history" and certainly not relegated to a single month. He wants it just taught as "history". The entire conversation is about putting race on the back burner of importance. And he reinforces this idea with this statement. "I'm going to stop calling you, a WHITE man...and I'm going to ask that you stop calling me a BLACK man" Morgan Freeman wants American history to be taught. And who the players are of whatever events in history are discussed are not important to the events that took place. Understand now? But dipshit progressives ideology has this desire to put black people on a pedestal over all others, so they get a month specific to them.
You’re the one trying to shame peoples opinions as racist. Morgan freeman’s comments are always anti race based collectivism. He stands firm on this and has multiple quotes that suggest that. Just cause Fox reported it doesn’t make it racist. Conservatives everywhere believe in individualism just as Morgan freeman does.
That’s not how I took his comment. I took it as he’s saying blacks don’t need a month. That blacks don’t need any month or holiday because they can express themselves as individual Americans any day they choose.
there's no such thing as black history it's just history. It's not an ethnicity. The only people that are ethnically African are people that are born in Africa. The problem I have is stealing other people's culture to identify a race Always with the personal crap.
Damn, you mean y’all are against Japanese American History Week? How about Women’s History Day? Everyone in the US can call themselves Americans but do they all have the same histories. Does each group have a story to tell? Do the Jews have a different history than the Mormons? There is the history of Irish Americans in the US and it's a part of American history. Would anyone be "insulted" if there was a book written about it (there is)? But Black history, which is part of the history of America, is the problem? On emancipation Blacks were 13% of the population (about the same as today). They were the largest minority at the time and for the next one hundred years they suffered racism, segregation, prevented from gaining power and wealth and the story of that was suppressed because it is ugly and against current American principles. African Americans are insisting their story needs to come out fully and people need to look at it.
There are so many different factions of society. Why have a holiday or pride day or religious day for all of them. If we should then why is there no European achievement holiday?
Everyone who grows up in America is part of AMERICAN HISTORY. There isn't enough damn months for every damn sub group. Get over it.
No, our country fought a war with Japan, Japan isn't a race it is a country and it actually has a specific country. I wouldn't be against Namibian history, Congo history or Egypt history that would be African history. there is no country of black there is no black history it's just called history. so again i agree with freeman. Yes. i don't see a person or event in history and say "Thats not my history because i am not the same race as those people" Thats stupid. history is inclusive. Yes different demographics have events that involved people from their race religion nationality so forth. it isn't separate. history is all of it. it is an all inclusive word. Thats just history. Whats so black about it?
Blacks whining about how difficult the distant past has been for them is getting so old. It's been shoved down our throats so much, nobody cares anymore.
It's not the fact people are insulated by black history month. People are just fed up of black propergana being forced down their throats. People are getting sick of it. It's causing a huge divide and fueling racism.
