MSNBC’s decision not to air Trump’s Iowa victory speech live ignites right-wing fires

MSNBC did the right thing in not airing Trump's Iowa victory speech?!! It would have been laden with lies, falsehoods, insults and innuendos?!! The media does not even cover Trump's rallies anymore for those reasons?!! NBC and CNN did not air Trump's Iowa victory speech either?!!

Conservatives are seething online after discovering that MSNBC chose to protect its viewers from former President Donald Trump’s penchant for lying in front of cameras when the network did not broadcast his victory speech after Trump won the Iowa caucuses on Monday. Rachel Maddow announced the decision during MSNBC’s special broadcast covering the vote results.

Maddow explained the rationale behind this editorial choice.

“We will let you know if there’s any news made in that speech if there’s anything noteworthy, something substantive and important,” Maddow said. “There is a reason that we and other news organizations have generally stopped giving an unfiltered live platform to remarks by former President Trump.

It is not out of spite. It is not a decision that we relish. It is a decision that we regularly revisit, and honestly, earnestly, it is not an easy decision. But there is a cost to us as a news organization of knowingly broadcasting untrue things that is a fundamental truth of our business and who we are.”

MSNBC ‘s decision was met with sharp criticism from right-wing influencers and commentators. One conservative influencer expressed their displeasure on X, formerly Twitter, remarking, “WOW—Rachel Maddow admits on air that they’ve decided to censor the leading Republican candidate’s victory speech and will decide what they want the public to know later. This why no one trusts the media—their tactics are exactly like 1984.”

MSNBC is a fake news organization, that continually proves that. The concerted effort not just from politicians, but from our media as well to destroy Trump is astounding.

The irrational hate the left has of Trump will be studied for hundreds of years.

 

As much as the RW complains about MSNBC, I think that obsessed RW Complainers make up about 90% of MSNBC's viewership.

I did, actually. File it under "know thy enemy." I would think that any rightie who is secure in their belief in Trumpism and all things MAGA would want to do the same. Of course, if one knows deep down that their hero has the proverbial "feet of clay," perhaps they fear cognitive dissonance.

Personally, I want to know what influences those who see Trump as a great leader. You can't understand another's perception if you pay no attention to it.

Wasn't watching MSNBC that night (entire concept of covering a caucus not that interesting), but I fully applaud not covering his lies anymore on most networks..

There are a few that will cover that and those people know where to find it. I understand CNN/Tapper started covering it, but broke away when the lies became too ridicuous.

I prefer the MSNBC methodology myself.

I would have watched a Haley victory speech (were it on my TV with no effort on my part), as she's still somewhat a mystery to many, but Trump was made for the channel change button...

 

OK, we're (MAGA) whining about MSNBC not covering the Trump propaganda spewing speech live and in totality.....yet, Elise Stefanic(?) went on NBC's Meet the Press hosted by Welker and parroted Trump by calling the Jan 6th criminals, "hostages". Welker did ZERO push back, ZERO. So Trump flock, do you love Welker now, is she the flavor of the day?

Shameful performance from Welker (again), but if you want to get guests, I suppose it's counterproductive to call them idiots to their face....

The best thing to do as a viewer is to change the channel when you see un-American guests... Regardless of what the Networks decide to show or not show, we are ultimately responsible for what we watch.

One of the most frequent criticisms of media lately is that they have given Trump influence simply by broadcasting his act.

Trump’s personal vanity is legendary. He can’t pass a mirror or a screen without looking to see if his face is on it.

And it has long been said that the best way to insulate from Trump’s constant stream of lies and cofeve is to ignore it.

Make Trump irrelevant. Which is what should have happened in the first place.
