By the next level I mean... zoning out, focusing on the music and nothing else, music that you can listening to repeatably and it never gets old or looses it effect. For me its first and foremost Tool. I love tool. I don't care the cost, but I will be seeing the Tool the next time they tour, somewhere in the front row...... hell or high water. Musically they are amazing, I love ten minutes songs, lyrically they are quite moving. Second being A Perfect Circle..... not the same effect as Tool, probably because their music is more mainstream (i.e., they is a lot of music that is similar to APC).... buts its got Maynard..... so its good.
When I figure out the lyrics I'll let you know what there saying. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HL548cHH3OY"]Phoenix - 1901 (US Version) - YouTube[/ame]
I can never go wrong with Fear Factory. Adrenaline producing chaos ensues @ 1:16mins [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftRnoTglrMQ"]Fear Factory - Christploitation - YouTube[/ame]
Like this song says, gimme that old time rock and roll. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQswfILThsY"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQswfILThsY[/ame]
This...everytime I hear this song I zone out. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtbunQgEi_0"]Pink Floyd - Marooned (HD) - YouTube[/ame] and other pink floyd stuff as well.
I met Maynard once back in '98. I'm not much of a Tool fan anymore. Some of their older stuff is still alright, but a lot of the stuff they've been doing since Aenima has just been really droning and monotonous. Puts me to sleep. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KPOfTGyyvI"]PANTERA - THE GREAT SOUTHERN TRENDKILL - YouTube[/ame] I think I could probably punch through steel on a Pantera binge. These guys are still untouchable gods to me. They just never get old. And still more brutal than just about anything else I've heard in the ten years since they called it quits. And these guys are still my favorite band of all time. I think I probably once played Angel Dust for about 5 hours straight without an intermission.
I used to love working out to vulgar display of power. Too bad about dimebag....he was a great guitarist.
This one just gets me every time: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oipeeZs65EI"]Between The Buried and Me - Ants of the Sky[/ame]
And guitar playing like this always gets me: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DTY8CITQn4"]Blue Oyster Cult - Last Days of May (live)[/ame]
Mahler's Second Symphony gets me every time. The first movement is so energetic and powerful that it grabs you and makes you listen to the rest of the piece. The first time I heard it I was in tears by the last movement. It's just genius! Extremely powerful music! Especially at the low end. It's even better once you know the story behind the piece, I'll let you all do your research.
