The shoulder insignia looks very familiar. Perhaps from all my travels during the first Gulf War. A Military Intelligence or logistics unit where I did a layover one stormy afternoon. Can't remember, quite honestly.
Not even close. It was the insignia of USCOMZEUR, United States Communications Zone, Europe a supply pipeline from Spain, through FRANCE into Germany. It went under when His Highness Charles de Gaul threw us out. I was assigned there from 1958 to 1960 and again in 1961 during the Berlin Wall crisis.
I would've said 1st Infantry Division until I saw Vietnam in it. Perhaps it was a brigade separated to serve there.
I recognized it as a military patch - or rather I guessed it was - but fook me if I know where its from. For all I knew, this was an old cavalry brigade's patch. back in the Navy, we had this crazy idea of putting letters and numbers on our patches betcha can't tell where I served, can ya?
