It’s cool, by now the Russian convicts, press ganged civilians, and African and Middle Eastern mercenaries Russia has begged to join their war will have just about finished slaughtering the Ukrainians with their WWII era weapons and a week of training like our Russia-informed posters here have been telling us.

The Ukrainian lines will soon collapse with nothing but ghosts to defend their trenches, I can just feel it.

    Any day now.

In fact, I think we’re about due for another “Russia has already won—all that’s left is mop-up” threads. It is, after all, almost the 2-year anniversary of this war. We all need another laugh big enough to last us the next 2 years!

The lines haven't changed in a year, so I guess the Yooks aren't winning as fast as everyone likes to claim.

It's also a basic fact that the Russians have 3x more fighting age males to draw from.

    whoever “everyone” is…

And we are a long way off from numbers mattering. Welcome to the military technology of the modern era. So glad you could join us. Will you be staying or do the Middle Ages want you back?

Numbers will always matter. It takes live bodies to operate tanks, fire artillery and shoot rifles.

A war with no purpose, but we don't want to lose.

The purpose was to get NATO into Ukraine on Russia's border.
I'm not sure that's much of a purpose.

So numbers only matter if you factor in a wide range of other factors, including weapons of war.

Without tanks, guns, etc of a modern army, numbers are meaningless and therefore any claim without context purely on the basis of numbers that X army will win over Y is remarkably outdated, shortsighted and shallow.

Thanks for proving my point. Class dismissed

    "Numbers will always matter"??

Yes....but what happened in Afghanistan during the 80s?

    USSR....270 mln approx.

    Afghanistan....30-35 mln maybe?

Lopsided numbers .....9:1 ratio?....should've been a walk in the park?

What happened?....end result was a retreat after 10 yrs ...and USSR disintegrated?

What happened was, after The United States started arming and training the Mujahedeen, Russians started dying at a higher rate.

That isn't the case in Ukraine.

But these are modern armies, with modern weapons and those weapons don't operate by themselves.

Whoever told you the Ukrainian and Russian armies are using the exact same weapons you need to give them a stern talking to and tell them never to speak about that which they know nothing about again

They aren't both using modern weapons?

Neither side is using muzzleloading artillery, or muskets, or horse cavalry.

Since that's the case, they're both using modern weapons.

So you’re trying to make a point that there’s no difference between a handgun and a M27?

Boy, I’ll give you credit, when you decide to jump down a rabbit hole of bad logic and assumptions, you really dive head first.

My dude there is a **** load of difference between a grenade launcher and a javelin.
The russians are pretty light on the tech side. FFS, one of their wunderwaffe bullshit weapons got gangbanged by a pair of bradleys packing 25mm bushmasters.

Right, because they're two totally different types of weapon system.

Bottom line, both require a human to operate them.

And a Bradley can be knocked out with a 12.7 machine gun made in 1975.

Gotta have the troops to operate the equipment.

One's a rifle and one's a pistol. Both weapons require a human to fire them.

I'll give you the "missing the point award of the day"...lol

    Huh....what?

According to Kremlin "facts" .....15000 Soviets died over 10 yrs of fighting?.....with Stinger missiles....an restricted land route through Tajikstan at the time ....and rotated out 3 million troops.

In less than 2 yrs of fighting here in Ukraine .....400 000 KIAs of RuZzkis.....1 000 000 injured, missing AWOL....they're not fighting "mujahadeens" camel humpers in the Pansjir Valley , or Helmand province?....

What's up.....your numbers simply aren't adding up here WBK.....or are the RuZzkis lying(which they are)?

That doesn't change the fact that the Russians have 3x more manpower to throw into the fray. The Yooks can't do this forever.

Probably....but how did the Mujas manage to keep this up over 10 yrs with such lop sided numbers?

Oh I got your point. Others do too. And it’s not making sense to anybody. A Russian army with pistols has equal fighting power as a Ukrainian army armed with machine guns such that 3X the manpower equals 3X the fighting power therefore Russia wins?

Unfortunately for the pro-Putin crowd, your math is 7 kinds of F’d up

Why not? We'll have to fight them one day (the Russians) anyway. Isn't it better to start closer to them in the first place.

Always better to start your drive on the other teams 40 yard line than on your own 20 yard line.

Nice and all but where are the 1 million 155mm shells the EU promised last year by the end of 2023? So far they have only delivered 30,000 of those 1 million shells. 2.5 years into this war major EU countries haven't even expanded production of ammo. They need to screw their heads on straight.
